Does anybody have insight on changing out the inverted Y steering set up and installing a cross over setup? Which way is better for either on or off road use?

It is the only way to go for good on road and offroad handling...
You will need to replace the passenger side KNuckle...
Talk to Dave or Todd at Desert Fab, He does custom set-ups with thick DOM and 1 ton tre's

Thank you for the insight. This may have to become a X-mas present.

From what I understand, this upgrade is for a 4" or higher lift. I would like to upgrade in the future, but I only have a 2.5" spring lift....

Teraflex makes good high steer also.

I took a look at the TeraFlex high steer. Like most things they sell a kit that may or may not need more parts:banghead:
For some reason it seems like most vendors upgrades leave a lot guessing as to what you might get.
May have to modify or relocate mounts on the axle.
This makes a Saturday in the garage turn into one week on jack stands and massive frustration.
I like an adventure, but my last blind date was 17 years ago.:whistling:

For the teraflex kit you will need sway bar relocation bracket for passenger side. They say trac bar might need to be relocated, but mine is still in stock location. I have a little bit of bump steer, but I have kit for 0-4 inches of lift and I have 6+ inched of lift. If you go with desert fab setup they relocate everything for you and you drive away with steering completed. Toys by troy also has good steering setup, but he is very prowd of it.

Don't you want 2 seperate points to mount the steering rods???? Looks like one mounting point which would seem to be a weak design??? They need more photos on the site!!

I have the same kit as Kyle (Teraflex). It seems like lots of shops use the Tera knuckle even if they make their own axle brackets and drag links and tie rods. I bought the kit used and the tie rod was bent so the photo shows the new tie rod. I have a 3.5 RE long arm lift but opted to relocate the track bar after installing the steering. I just got back from Moab and am very happy with the way the Jeep feels on the trail. It handles great with zero bump/droop steer and no dead spot. If I had it to do again I would most likely have Desert Fab hook me up with an out the door setup although the install is not difficult if you have all the right parts and tools (that's a pretty big if).

Kyle is right about the sway bar relocation bracket. I had to order one from Desert Rat (they are a Tera dealer) and it was around $50.
You may or may not need a drop pitman arm. I use the stock arm.
As touched on before, you may or may not want to relocate the track bar. To get the geometry perfect you will most likely have to. See this thread:

By the time you add up the kit ($500+), sway bar bracket($50), and track bar relocation ($200) you are not too far away from what DF will charge you out the door. I think Troys kit is around $1000 just for parts.
Let us know what you go with.

Thanks all for the input. I have continued to search the web for possible options and manufactures. Kevin's Off Road sells a bolt on kit for under $650. Does anybody know anyone that has this set up? IF so, how did they like. I have a ZJ so it seems to limit my off the shelf options.
