On behalf of a friend of mine who does Toys for Tots every year at Hunters; and who this year is also introducing something we can all do for our troops in Iraq:

Again this year, for the 4th year in a row, I will be doing the Toys for Tots collecting for the USMC Toys for Tots program. We have filled up my Grand Cherokee every year with as many as 150 gifts. I think the record was Joe Daro from Absolute Off-Road who gave I think 15 or 20 toys at one time after a shopping spree in which he had no clue he told me at Toys R Us. And one of the most generous ones was last year when someone gave two new bikes, one for a boy and one for a girl (sorry I forgot your name).

So again I ask each of you to think of the kids who are less fortunate and donate a toy for Tots again this Year. We are looking for a NEW, unwrapped and unopened toy for a boy or girl. You decide which, how many and how much to pay.

Bring it to the BBQ or if you cannot make it to the BBQ, please drop it off to John at the shop during regular business hours, but don't do like me and spend an hour jawing with him cause John needs to make a living!

NOW Part #2 - Operation Stocking Stuffer

This newer program is for the troops deployed in war zones and I will be collecting for them too!

The top 10 donations needed are:

1. Beef Jerky and Corn nuts to savor during long and boring watches
2. Protein Bars, pre-packaged tuna or chicken salad with crackers for quick snacks and energy
3. Slinkies, nerf balls, frisbees to play with during downtime
4. Olive-green or black T-shirts (L/XL?) and long boot socks because laundry is hard to do and seldom available
5. Chapstick/lip balm for dry lips
6. Baby wipes for obvious hygiene reasons
7. Chemical hand and foot warmers for those cold nights in the desert
8. Disposable cameras to document their experiences -or- if you are so
inclined digital cameras, especially that old one that still works that you just bought a new one to replace.
9. Q-tips are very useful especially for cleaning weapons.
and lastly:
LETTERS and CARDS of Encouragement along with maybe those old issues of 4x4 magazines that you no longer read !

I really appreciate your support of BOTH of these programs and see you at the BBQ.

Mike
