Ran Martinez cabin and canyon today and cleaned up that fun waterfall before you hit Box from Cottonwood. It's fun again :)

After:

Cleaned up a bunch of trash out there as well. It's not too bad, but I find way too many god damn beer cans!

Good stuff!!!! More of this needs to happen on all AZ trails! If you can't make it, take a strap, don't stack!............Drew

Great Job! It looks a lot more fun now. It is gonna take a lot to unstack AZ but we can all try. I would be willing to go to an unstacking run.

That's not a trail, it's the access road, it will be restacked by Sunday.

A for Effort though :)

Thought you were gonna destack H2H ?

I hope not. We made an effort to put about half the rocks in a very inconvenient spot off the trail, if someone wants to stack again. Time will tell.

I am planning on destacking H2H on Friday, if I can still walk! I sprained my ankle pretty bad on the trail today :banghead: Just got it x-rayed though and it's not broke, but it's pretty fouked.

That is the road most vehicles take from either the 60 or Cottonwood to Box. I've seen all kinds of junk make it through there, it will be restacked and besides, it's not really a trail, it's the road............the fun line is way to the right in your pic :)

So you are out for this weekend ?

good job on the destacking. litterbugs don't have my respect, but you do for your efforts on cleaning up.

You're right...the fun line is to the right. That's the one we took today. That isn't the "only" way there though. You can go up high and take easy switchbacks/trails/roads/paths/whatever down into Box. I don't want to get into a debate over what's a trail and what's a road though...I'm not making that mistake again! I just thought I'd share what we did today.

So you are out for this weekend ?

I think I'll still be able to make it. I'll be sitting on my arse most the day anyway. I'll see how bad it is tomorrow and make the call then. Why? No one's going except for liv2jp.

Unfortunately RokNRich is right. I have watched countless junk roll through there. Even a fat lady in one of those pep-boys go karts and she almost fried it trying to get up. They will come again, they will stack... :(

I give you Kudos for doing a good job, I will go out after this weekend to help if someone picks a trial I can get in/back into.

To be completely honest, I'm almost in favor of having this stacked. I've met a ton of people out there that are looking for an easier way out than going through box canyon "again" (after they came up it). I always send them that way and tell them to hug the line on the left...............

Last time we went through we unstacked it. Looks like it was worse than before we unstacked it last time :( Amazing how many rocks people can find to stuff in the cracks.

I hope you tossed those damn rocks far enough that no one wants to go get them and re-do what you worked so hard on! It looks great! Thanks for all the hard work.

THIS SUCKS....I GUESS THAT ALL THE P.O.S. LOWRIDER JUNK THAT THINKS THAT THEY ARE WHEELIN' JUST CAN'T MAKE IT UNLESS THEY BUILD THEMSELVES A HANDICAP RAMP...:wheelchair:

WHY DO PEOPLE FEEL THE NEED TO DRIVE THEIR 2 WHEEL DRIVE CARS AND TRUCKS BACK INTO THE CANYON OR THE SUPER STOCK, EXTRA LOW, FACTORY, ALL-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES IN THERE TOO?

I KNOW IT'S A FREE COUNTRY, BUT THEY NEED TO BE EDUCATED IN THE DO'S AND DONT'S OF WHEELIN' AND MESSIN' WITH WHAT THEY SHOULDN'T.........

Guess that a de-stacking party would be a good idea, so who is going to lead it and set it up?

As mentioned that is pretty much a road. To be honest I'm surprised it has not been filled with concrete yet. Your just wasting your time destacking that area, and personally I could care less that it is getting stacked. There are alot of Sunday drivers in their stock 4x4's that enjoy the beauty of Box Canyon and don't want challenging obstacles, you got to see it from there perspective too.

My concern is those who want a challenging trail and then stack to get thru it. Stacking does not mean you made it up the obstacle; they are no different than a person who did not stack and used a winch, except that they ruined the trail. BTW, I have no problem stacking a few rocks to get out of a stuck situation, its stacking to make the obstacle and leaving the rocks that I dislike.
Destacking is a lot of work. I just destackd lower Smasher up here last week and I’m still aching from it. Next time I go thru I am getting one of them 2” receiver attachments with a basket. I and two others moved the rocks in one obstacle 100 ft down the wash. Had to use straps and pulled several large rocks 100 ft as well. Made it so tough a guy on 35’s had to be pulled up. :punk:

..and a peronal thanks to all of you who are destacking trails.

This is a shame, I had no idea this happens (I only recently made the connection to what the practice was by reading these posts, yes i'm a newb), let alone to this extent. I feel the problem though really lies with the mentality of those who use the trails. I took the time to write about it on my blog on MyJeepSpace, which I recently started.

http://www.myjeepspace.com/blog/view/id_1032/

The larger the audience that these issues reach the better imo. Hope you don't mind I used your pics.

Wouldn't taking these rocks away be just as rude to a novice driver as them putting them up is rude to you?

Seems almost like making peoples lives difficult, but what do I know.

JPCooler

That's why most people make an effort to destack the harder trails, there really isn't any use in destacking the easy trails or roads, they will be restacked pronto and like you said, just make things bad for the guys out in their SUV's on a Sunday drive.

The harder trails should remain hard.

Education is the key :)
