straightening the steering wheel. Besides, I'm trying to prevent the

Offroad should beef it up and solve my gripes.

Subject: RE disconnects
AZ_VJC members,
I recently purchased a set of quick disconnects for my 87 XJ's swaybar. They are from Rubicon Express. On the passenger side the setup works great, but on the drivers side the top adapter bracket will not sit level and therefore the upper bushing has allot of tweaking pressure applied, and I am afraid if I run it this way, the life of the bushing will be extremely short. I did loosen the swaybar and move it as far as possible towards the drivers side to try and align end link, but so much for that idea. It did help a little, but not enough. I noticed that the swaybar bolt eyelet on the drivers side is not level. Looks as though it is twisted a little. When I was running the stock end links, I was getting a popping noise when turning or hitting bumps. The stock end links were bent and this is one of the reasons I am replacing them, besides the ease of off-road setup. Can I person apply a little heat and twist the eyelet back level, without hurting anything? I am not sure if swaybars can be repaired, or do you recommend buying a new one? If so, could anyone suggest a good product?
BTW, I also notice that the new disconnects are a little noisy. Is this also normal? It doesn't bother me, but never having them before and going on a road trip to CO. I would like to know that things are performing up to specs. I would appreciate any information from my friends at AZ_VJC on this matter. Thank you,

Are you in the mood to experiment? try taking the swaybar all the way out and taking a short run down the road (carefully) see how the handeling is affected
I know of a few Zj's that run without the sway bar at all and don't have any real
ill affects. If not in the mood to experiment, I'll look around for a used sway bar.

Well letts see..... does your XJ have a lift kit.... if
so the track bar may need to be moved towards the drivers
side to recenter the axle under the jeep. and yes
virginia the suckers do chatter a bit....but you will
get used to them. You might just need to realign the top
disconnect bracket it to can be off center just a little
and throw the whole thing out of wack. Ill look in
Flagstaff for another sway bar for you... a used one
Good luck

Len,
The 7 slot grill has been prevalent throughout the history of the Jeep line.
Way back I believe the Ford GP's had a horizontal grill. And your J series
as well as the SJ's I believe, have a different style. But for the most part
it's been the 7 slot. Look at the flatfender including military, the long CJ
series including military versions, YJ, XJ, ZJ, WJ, TJ, DJ (postal), & MJ
pickup, . I'm not knocking your J series just trying to import a little
heritage to the logo contest. After all, this is supposed to be fun :)

Thanks man for the help on the sway bar. I got with my son today, since he didn't have to work, and he helped me straighten out the problem. He is a life saver in the auto mechanic area. We went ahead a heated up the twisted area and pulled it back into place. I hope this works! He will be going wheeling this weekend, and will put it to the test. I will let you know how it performs. Thanks again for your support and help. BTW, glad to hear that things are looking up for you. Thank goodness for insurance coverage!1111111

Mike,
Welcome to the AZ_VJC! The XJ is quite a capable Jeep as well, as many
manufacturers are now starting to find out, so the choice of parts, etc
is getting better. As to what to do to start building the Cherokee, or
what to do/not to do, depends what you're looking for from this Jeep.
Give us an idea, there's plenty of XJ owners recently joining the VJC.

We already have a photopoint site. I've uploaded your pics. You had a lot of

I thought I wrote you but I must not have, I apologize. I just sold the
rack so the price on the rear bumber is $850 obo and the front is $600 obo.
The rear has the swing out tire carrier, high lift mount, gas can mount,
water can mount, 2" receiver hitch, and shackles and D-rings. The front has
a winch plate, 2" receiver hitch, and shackles and D-rings. Let me know if
you are interested. Have you called BPM for their latest prices and waiting
list. These bumpers are awesome and in like new condition.

Thanks to all the members of the AZ_VJC
that showed up for the weekend!
It was a pleasure to meet you all!
We had a great time and look foreward
to Clint's Well again next year.
This event was put on by the Copper State
club out of Mesa and they deserve all the
credit and thanks! Good Job Guys!
Saturday was a day of meeting new people
and getting together with some old friends
and their rigs. We participated in 4X4 games,
kids games,and a horseshoe tournament.
Some of us had pot-lucks and there was a ice cream social.
Sunday we had an easy run, although a tree was
winched out of the way on a pretty good downhill
trail all rigs made it through, even the stock TJs and the YJ.
We stopped for lunch on the trail then headed back to
Clint's Well for an ice cream stop. The trail was pretty
dusty but it was a great time none the less.
Thanks to 'Mango' for leading this huge group out there!
Monday morning we said our goodbyes to those who had
not left Sunday and took our time going back to Tucson.
We stopped at the "Natural Bridge" thanks for the
suggestion on that, it is a beautiful sight!
We did not get a drop of rain til we got into
to Tucson about 5:30 PM!
Hope to see you all out on the trails soon or
when it get's cooler!

Thank you,
Keith (Casper)

Keith,
Are you in the mood to experiment? try taking the swaybar all the way out and taking a short run down the road (carefully) see how the handeling is affected
I know of a few Zj's that run without the sway bar at all and don't have any real
ill affects. If not in the mood to experiment, I'll look around for a used sway bar.

Thank you,

The RE disconnects have a reputation of being noisy. On my old YJ I had to apply a little grease between the links to keep them quiet. On the TJ they haven't made any noise yet.

Leah "SHE J" 94YJ ~Tucson~

OOPPS..... Sorry Dan, I thought that I had sent in the
already cropped pics of my XJ.... I guess I need to clean
out the ol. computer of originals after I crop them...
Thanks for handling that for me. I'll be more careful nest
time.
Thanks again

We already have a photopoint site. I've uploaded your pics. You had a lot of
whitespace, so I cropped it and put the pics side by side.
The web address for the AZVJC pics is:

Thanks!
