I am looking to purchase a Compu/Shift for my 87 XJ, 4.0. I have had no luck in finding any information on price or dealer. Can any fellow AZ_VJC members help me out with this issue?
Thanks,

I have uploaded two more logo concepts to this site:

Or, to look at all of the AZ-VJC pictures, go to:

Please submit any logos to me (Revolvr@a...). If you've drawn something by

Jim - great drawing! The 4x4 computer seems to be a popular choice.
Let me know if you ever need some help with website maintenance. I'm a
computer programmer by trade and have website development as one of my
experiences. Just let me know. I'm not great at graphics myself, but might
be able to get some help in that area from a co-worker.

Try popping off an email to Steve Ward (Bones) on the forum ... He's a
reseller for the compushift plus equipment. I bought one from him but
never installed it on my 98 XJ. Everyone I talked to said they had MAJOR
problems getting it to work on the late model XJs, so I never installed it. I
hear they work great on pre-96 XJs though.
Good luck. BTW, I'll sell you mine if you find out that mine will work on
your XJ. Let me know. Original packaging, never installed, wink wink nudge
nudge!

I can put any logo on any t-shirt or maousepad. I can even get YOUR JEEP put
on it, with you in the driver's seat. The cost is not too bad at all. Let
me know if anyone wants to do this on an individual basis, or as a group, and
we can get a good price for either pads, shirts, or both.

Good luck! I was watching 20/20 last week,(rerun I think), and they were

right at the top of the preference list by auto thieves. I guess it is time

Subject: Want to replace Y style steering with wheel to wheel on TJ
I'm looking to go with a different style steering setup on my 99 TJ. I am tired of crawling under it after every run and setting the toe in and straightening the steering wheel. Besides, I'm trying to prevent the inevitable day when I'll bend the drag link. The Y style linkage changes the toe in as the axle articulates whichs leads to more steering feedback on the trail. A wheel to wheel tie rod conversion such as the one from Rusty's Offroad should beef it up and solve my gripes.
I believe Brian in the white XJ has this setup. I talked to you and Jeff on the FR42 run about it. Please give me more details on why you do and do not like the setup from Rusty's on your XJ. I'd also like to see how the stabilizer hooks up to this linkage.

If anyone else knows of another company producing this setup let me know.
Thanks,

Scott -
You can reach Brian via email at thusimos@c..., although he
won't be back home from vacation for another week or two. Rusty's steering
conversion is very slick, and Rusty is fabulous to deal with (believes
customer is right). I do know of someone that bent one of his tie rods
because he uses them to their fullest extent. Please email him (Dave Nay
nay@r...) and ask him how he likes Rusty's steering conversion. He's got a
6" lift on a '97 XJ and does some pretty serious wheeling.
The steering stabilizer mounts to the drag link (from pitman arm to right
knuckle) with a dual ubolt and plate setup. Check out the pictures I took of
Brian's setup at http://www.desertwave.com/~jeffm/Temp/Steering/ - with a
couple of notes: 1) Brian has stock offset (5.25") backspaced wheels which
Rusty's only supports 4.5" or less offset, so you won't have the rubbing
problem, and 2) there are 2 different length drag link lengths - one for 0-3"
lift, and one for +3 inch. Rusty mis-shipped the 0-3" link with Brian's
setup. You can check out Rusty's steering box brace in the pictures as well.
BTW, Rubicon Express sells Rusty's kit too - it's the one listed on the XJ
page on RE's website. Contact Rusty (rustys4x4@a...) if you want specifics
on his stuff. I'm not 100% sure his XJ stuff will work on your TJ. It
should, it's basically the same front end, right?
Looking forward to 'wheeling with you again soon,
Jeff

The newest one with the headlights on it looks great. But Jon, there
traditionally is 7 slots in a Jeep grill. Otherwise I love it more than the
first one :) I thinks its simple enough that it will really stand out on a
sticker or shirt. The ones with the state are nice but look crowded IMO.

My video camera is a Sony TR315. It is a digital camcorder (digitizes the
images and then records on high quality tapes - $8 each!). I then use a
hardware video capture device called Dazzle ($250). It has a USB connection
and it lets you capture stills from any frame on your video or it will save
digital video clips to your PC as an MPEG. Dazzle comes with a couple of
great software packages. One is called Video Studio and it lets you put
headers, trailers and fades, wipes, etc. into the MPEG. It also lets you
slice and dice as you see fit. The stuff I sent you is stock with no
editing. I do this as a hobby only but it is a kick, especially on good
runs. The Sony runs about $999 and has been on the market only about 6
months. It is the latest and has a 3.5 inch viewing LCD as well as a color
view finder. 22X optical zoom and 330Xdigital zoom. Stereo sound, auto
focus, zero light (takes video in full darkness!), and too many other bells
to mention. Highly recommended for anyone considering a new camcorder. Be
sure it is digital. The resolution is spectacular.
I have Jeff H., Eric K. and Dan McF. on tape also from the bad hill on
FR42. If any of you (or any one else, for that matter) would like a copy of
the CD with videos from the FR42 run, email me at: jloveless@e....
As long as it doesn't get too out of hand I will do this gratus.

Let me know if you ever need some help with website maintenance. I'm a
computer programmer by trade and have website development as one of my

be able to get some help in that area from a co-worker.

I can even get YOUR JEEP put

me know if anyone wants to do this on an individual basis, or as a group, and
we can get a good price for either pads, shirts, or both.

Subject: Re: Want to replace Y style steering with wheel to wheel on TJ
Scott -
You can reach Brian via email at thusimos@c..., although he
won't be back home from vacation for another week or two.
Looking forward to 'wheeling with you again soon,
Jeff

Besides, I'm trying to prevent the inevitable day when I'll bend the drag link. The Y style linkage changes the toe in as the axle articulates whichs leads to more steering feedback on the trail. A wheel to wheel tie rod conversion such as the one from Rusty's Offroad should beef it up and solve my gripes.

Jon,
Thanks a lot for the CD. I kept looking at those shots over and over. I
can't believe what kind of resolution you got there. Tell me more about the
camera you use and what sort of decoder software your using. I'd like to get
something that would do this. This is some pretty cool footage!
