View Full Version : Martinez Canyon Loop 11-4

A few of us ran Martinez Canyon Loop today. The upper portion of the trail past the mill has definitely gotten harder since the last time I ran it. The sections that were pretty tippy before are very tippy now. It's still one of my favorite trails though. The scenery was great and the company even better. I didn't get a whole lot of pics, but I did get some cool videos on the luge. Here are the pics I got:

Martinez Canyon is one of my favorite trails so it was great to be out there today. Of course, being out on the trail with a good group of people always helps. On to the pics:

I also need to throw in a thanks to Andy at ORI. This was my first run on the new Trepadors and they were great. If you want great service and good deals on tires, give ORI a call.

Hey you guys, sorry for taking so long to post up. The working life is a little more time consuming than I remembered
What an awesome day yesterday! The weather was so nice, great day to yak it up with you guys and run the Loop.
Here we are on George's 'Secret Passage' to the Coke / Martinez turn-off. Brownie points to anyone who can tell what way we went by looking at this photo:

Even though I've met Steve quite a few times, this is actually the first time I've ever been on a run with the toyota. Let me just say, I feel - special. - Di
Here he is; right before he popped up & out of Roger's Crack. Nice Job Steve!

This was the most quiet the Toyota was all day. I suggested to Steve that he change his user ID to Bam-Bam!
In a slide:

I did get a video of Mongo coming down the Luge with my still camera, but I was holding it up & down and that's how it uploaded. I can't figure out how to rotate it, even with all the help. So, if you all want to view it with your heads cranked sideways, I'll post it up. I need to read the book.
The other pics I got are on my webshots, take a look if you want.

Isn't that the "turned left too early, let's turn around" passage ? Been there, done that. ;)
Nice pic's, does the "luge" still get your left side or did you all clear it ?

So how did the Trepadors do...?
They did pretty good. I aired them down to 11psi which is as low as I had gone with my old MTR's. I wanted to see how they compared before I went any lower. I'll need a few more trails before I can say one way or the other. I did use the sidewall lugs a few times and they were pretty grippy. Next time I lower them down to 7 or 8 and see how they do.

Jim you have beadlocks too? WTF!
Yep, tires and beadlocks. Andy at ORI hooked me up with some 35" Maxxis Trepadors and I put on some Champion beadlocks. I'll post up some pictures in a bit. I had to get some dirt on them so they weren't so shiny before I posted pics.:D
So when are we hitting H2H and WW?
Once I get the new fenders on I'll be ready for some new trails. I still need time to finish my Montana Mountain punishment runs:D

Steve already said it, but yep you get pushed left right at the start. The way it is washed out at the top you don't have a lot of choice. I think Steve was the only one that scraped, but I think he was the only one that wasn't worried about scraping:D

Wow Steve....hella good job driving man! I'm not at all positive, but you're the first IFS rig I know of to tackle that V notch. Very impressive. I guess it's safe to say the crawler is really working well for ya. :)
I can only imagine the holy terror you could become with a SFA. ;)

That where I bent both of my front super lift leaf springs on my YJ! I guess shackle reversion isnt such a good thing. A sledge and a hi lift got em bent back though. Anyways cool pictures, its a fun trail, seems a little harder than what it was a couple years ago.
