Somewhere around Bartlett

So the plan today was to run from Bartlett to the Beeline but we couldn't find the right place to cross the river. Later we talked to a Sheriff and it sounded like that might not have been a good idea anyway so we went somewhere else in the area. Don't ask me where I have no idea, but I have a couple good pics!

It was a really cool day today. Very nice to meet some new people and see some new places. Thanks for having me along today guys, see you on the trail.

We took camp creek wash from bartlett to rio verde. Played around on the rocks, checked out the open area at needle rock then headed down ft-mcdowel road all the way to beeline.. We tried really hard to find the crossing area for the powerline trail but had no luck. It was probably for the better, the water was running pretty fast.

Nice to meet some new people and it was a great time running around through the desert. I would wheel with any of you guys again. I will post up some pics soon.

Cool pics! I know that trail, it's Camp Creek Wash. Too bad you couldn't find the crossing below Bartlett Dam, but that's a very difficult thing to find, even for those of us who have crossed before. The river was flowing at about 260cfs which is right about the level that I would choose not to try and cross. It's maybe a good thing you didn't find the crossing. The place on the Verde River where you took the pics is called Needle Rock Recreation Area but the actual Needle Rock is to the left (out of frame) in the picture (the one below). It looks like the eye of a needle. It was on your left side as you came out of the canyon. Good job helping the stuck truck! Looks like a great day for you guys! Thanks for sharing!

Well, don't feel too bad about not finding the entrance to Powerline Trail, this is Camp Creek Wash and I have looked for the entrance several times without success. On the other hand about two miles north up the wash from the river and off to the east are a couple of tributary washes that are really cool. One of them is rather tight and has been known to damage the upper corners of a soft top on a Wrangler. Yes, the upper corners. :) I have encountered high speed vehicles in this wash on several occasions. It is quite popular on the weekends especially in the camping area near the water.
