View Full Version : Murder at the coves???

None of this is made up... It all happened last night in cove one...

It was a cool and clear night. The sound of the lake and a small fire filled the air…Well until a guy started screaming “Chris! Chris!!! You have 3 F’ing minutes to get in the truck!”
You kinda have to take notice of stuff like this… a few of us bet that he is drunk and its nothing more than an argument. The guy loads up his stuff and leaves. Only to return honking his horn and yelling for Chris… we don’t know who Chris is or if Chris is even real…
The guy in the truck shuts off his lights and turns off the truck and sits there for 30 minutes or so then gets out and starts screaming again.
“CHRIS!!!!!! HERE IS YOUR FING BAG! DON’T EVER CALL ME AGAIN!!!”
He then tosses a bag out of the truck and drives off.

Not five minutes later here comes the truck and the guy screaming for Chris. He drives over to the bag, get out, looks around screams for Chris, picks up the bag and comes over to camp asking one of the guys if he had seen a girl a dog and a bag…. The kid ask “whats she look like?” The guy snaps “What the F does that matter? You have seen her or you haven’t!!!” Drunk guy gets back in his truck and drives off again.

Ok so now we know Chris is a girl… None of us have seen this girl or even heard her speak at any point…By this time we figure the guy has killed this girl, either at home or at the lake and is now trying to make it look like she walked off on her own… or hes just insane and is going to come back and kill us all. A few of us head over to where the guy was parked and where he tossed the bag to look and see if this mystery girl was around and just hiding from drunk guy. We can’t find anything. Not even girl foot prints… One of the guys finally says what we are all thinking… “Dude, there is a dead girl out here somewhere…”

About that time we load up the Jeep and take another way out. I wanted to see if the Girl had walked out another way. As we make it to the top of a hill there is a blood curtailing scream that pierces the night. Chris???? We shut off the jeep and just listen… Then we hear it… Kids from the other party. “LADY!!! HEY LADY!!! Lady?...” Flashlights are out searching the hills. We wait but there is no response. We drive on.

As we make our way to the road we see the drunk guy in his Ford and he is making tracks… There is only a few ways out of the coves so we follow at a distance. The Ford stops and the guy gets out. It looks like he may be peeing but were not sure. He hops back in the truck and takes off. We head over to anther hill to get back to the main road when the Ford pull in behind us. I make quick work of the hill and hustle back to the main road…

We never saw the girl the bag or the dog this guy was talking about…

Was she real? Is she just out there hiding? Did he kill her and make it look like she walked off alone?

Real or not? I am thinking if it was real you would have called the cops to report the incident, even for just the fact that he was drunk and going to drive away...

Call and say what? There is a guy in a truck out on a trail thaat had a little to much to drink and is screaming for a girl that no one ever saw? Some one screamed but I don't know who?
As for getting the plate #... I wasn't getting near that truck.

I always have my gun with me. I had it in my hand as soon as he came over to our side and asked the kid if he has seen the girl.

That is some scary stuff! You know all this talk about drinking and driving, I think maybe some people just shouldn't drink. Period.

To protect myself or specially my wife, I wouldn't think about it for a second.

X2! To protect myself and my family I wouldn't hesitate...at the same time I would never shoot unless I had to. I carry a .22 pistol and a 12 gauge 99% of the time when I am in the desert down there...especially camping. Ever since I was a kid my dad always made me take a 12 gauge camping when I lived down there just in case...luckily there has never been once instance I have had to use it...except to procure a tasty quail or dove now and then.

Backpacking I worry most about stumbling across a pot farm or something like that...i've seen and heard about some weird things out by Red Creek, pot plants, a shack with fresh tarps(for drying) and an airstrip...freaky to stumble upon 5 miles from any decent road. There is nothign anyone can do for you if someone wants to keep you from telling anyone. If I have an AK-47 maybe the farmers will just let me pass through without a fuss...that's my hope. It is a messed up world these days, you can't be sure what you will find. Plus Ak's are lightweight and good for backpacking.

I always have mine with me...

I wouldnt think twice about shooting someone, though I may not shoot to kill unless I feel it is needed.

Bob, freaky story dude. I don't blame you for getting the hell out of there. I don't care what anyone says, the coves can be eerie when the sun goes down, and then if some weirdo is arguing with an invisible 'Chris', why, I'd high-tail it too. That had to scare the shiote out of you when he ended up behind you on the way out?

Now wait, don't scare people out of camping. I camp almost every weekend, half the time it's with no other humans.
But your dogs are mostly human, at least you treat them that way. :D And dogs are better than guns for most situations, but having both is the best scenario. We don't have dogs, but camping with Digger was very nice, all of her dogs behave, usually better than the humans on the trip.

To protect myself or specially my wife, I wouldn't think about it for a second.
I'm with Bill on this one, and sometimes a second is all the time you may have. Good marksmanship and quick reflexes gives you some options, but just like Brad (AZG23) always says, "practice, practice, practice".

Kind of a disjointed thread>

Like to see some of our discussions on the firearms forum.

Nothing wrong with this thread but would like to see the firearms forum grow some. Seems we have some 2nd Amendment supporters etc here.

Post up some good articles etc.

Just a thought!!

Why thank you for the good comments on my doggies Wayco ! :D
And the dogs act as an alarm, yes I am always armed, I just don't talk about it. It's so common a practice for me, it's like carrying my jeep keys, always have em, just don't pull em out to show anyone ;)

I being on the small side compared to men, keep this in mind. If the situation arises when I have to point it, I WILL spend some lead. I wouldn't get a second chance.
