Check engine light went away?

I had the light come on, and got the code checked. It was a small leak somwhere in the exhaust/emissions area. I took it to get fixed but got busy and figured that it wasn't putting me in immediate danger so I could take care of it later. Fast forward 2 weeks and the light goes away. Does my jeep just understand that I dont care or realize that the engine light isn't important?

That means that whatever condition caused the light to come on has cleared. It could be a one time deal or an intermittent problem.

its probably because you have had 255 key cycles since the code first came on!

The code was probably a intermittent fault that wasn't serious. most of the time, it is caused by dirt if the code was for a purge valve or vent solenoid. dirt getting caught in the valve will not allow it to close when commanded by the pcm, so it set the code, but driving caused it to jar loose it it had worked next the pcm commanded the component.

or it could be a loose connection...

either way the code isnt a hard fault, so the computer reseted it self with out seeing the problem again at 255 key cycles.
