Subject: maintainance run we have a location!

Hi all

We have free use of the parking lots at either the 19th Ave and Bell or the
59th Ave and Camelback locations of Checker Auto Parts for the maintenance
run. All I have to do is notify the district manager of the date.....

There are a couple of conditions, though: (I told you the lawyers would
have their say!)

no oil changes
no repair that requires raising a vehicle off the ground

minor repairs (fan belts, tune up, etc) are ok

PLUS: If we can come up with some kind of AZVJC identification card before
then, any member of the club will receive a 10% discount on any items in the
performance section of the store. This only applies to the items stocked in
the performance areas of the stores and special order performance
products....it does not apply to general merchandise or fluids. One thing
the DM asked me to mention is that we now have the Edelbrock IAS shock
absorbers available. You can find out more about them at
www.edelbrock.com

Now that we have a place to do it, the question becomes......when?

Nick,

There are a couple of runs planned for the weekend of the 10th. The Cinders run in Flagstaff will be that weekend. I also believe that is the weekend that Linda is leading the DuPont Cabin run. I am interested in going on these runs. Please reconsider the maintenance day for the following weekend. Besides, there's always something to work on after a good run!

I'd like to see these events on separate weekends. I am very interested
doing all of them. Maybe we can schedule one of the runs the 1st weekend of

all be set to participate in the other run the 3rd weekend.

Pictures of the White Tanks came out pretty well....a few good ones of Shannon and her XJ. I've been extremely busy with work and haven't had much time to JEEP. I need to get the photos to someone who can scan them in. My schedule doesn't see much slack. Work 5 days this week (I usually work only 4-10s), then vacation in Colorado the following week (looking forward to the cool)...taking Marcia's XJ. Then back to work!

How about I (your humble list manager) send everyone an e-mail saying
something to the effect that "The recipient is a member in good standing of
the Arizona Virtual Jeep Club." Then you just print that out and take it.

I'd really like to do better, but on short notice that might work. If we can
come up with a club logo I could get business cards and/or membership cards
printed up. How about a logo contest? I'm thinking of a computer terminal
with four wheel drive on the trail with a poor mouse trailing behind bouncing
along the rocks. Any artists in the group?

Why don't we take George's Barney concept a little farther.....I have a
couple of old mainframe terminals at work that we could tie to the back
bumper of a Jeep. We could set up a staged photo shoot with a Jeep on a
dirt road (there are several in town) with the terminal dragging behind it.
I could scan it in black and white and modify it in Photoshop to be used on
a simple business card.

If someone in the group is artistic enough to draw it (I"m not!) that might
be easier, but ............

The district manager's exact words were "nothing that requires lifting the
vehicle off the ground." We could probably get away with changing a tire or
a quick brake job, but I don't want to push it.

What a great idea for a logo! I second this idea for a logo.

Maybe we can put the logo on a T-shirt and have the sales of the T-shirt fund
the R&D (research and development :-) ).

Subject: Dupont Cabin Dates

Hi All,
I am actually doing the Dupont Cabin Trail two weekends in a row. The pre-run
is July 10-11. This is the one I invited the AZVJC exclusively to go on. The
other time is the following weekend (July 17-18) for the Az Lo-Rangers 4WDC.
You are all invited to go on either run if you would like.

I am just trying to keep the turnout small. If you were on my Coke Ovens trip
back in January you would understand. I had 40 vehicles on that trip. I am
trying hard not to have that happen again!

Info for the July 10-11 trip:
Meeting place: Bush & Beeline Hwys
Meeting time: 8:00am Saturday morning
This trip will be going east-to-west on the Dupont Trail. We will also be
going through Payson and Young on our way to the trailhead.

Info for the July 17-18 trip:
Meeting place: Bush & Beeline Hwys
Meeting time: 8:00am Saturday morning
This trip will be going west-to-east on the Dupont Trail.

Hi Joe,

Welcome to the club! Looks as if there is going to be
a group from the Phoenix area getting together and going up.
I am going to try and coordinate it so the
Tucson group can meet up with the Phoenix group
on the way up. We are leaving Tucson at 5PM and
geting to Phoenix around 7PM? We will be
arriving in Clints Wells pretty late. I think some
people would like to get there a bit earlier.
Maybe leave with the Copperstate group?
Can anyone help Joe out here?

How about I (your humble list manager) send everyone an e-mail saying
something to the effect that "The recipient is a member in good standing of
the Arizona Virtual Jeep Club." Then you just print that out and take it.

I'd really like to do better, but on short notice that might work. If we can

come up with a club logo I could get business cards and/or membership cards
printed up. How about a logo contest? I'm thinking of a computer terminal
with four wheel drive on the trail with a poor mouse trailing behind
bouncing
along the rocks.

I'll take a crack at using this idea for a logo. I will put the result up
on PhotoPoint a bit later.

I agree with this idea. Even though I live in Safford, and my opportunity to
participate in M day's is limited, I feel this is an important step to club
strength. I would support the idea of T-shirts also. It is a great thing to
advertise for your Club, and the money is always needed for R&D(research and
development). The cost would be very little concerning the benefit of the
out come. Thumbs up on this one!!!!
