So I did a few things to the CJ today and replacing the motor mounts was one of those things. I decided to take a few pics and create a write up for anyone looking to do this in the future. My old mounts had gotten so bad the oil filter was hitting the frame and NAPA mounts did nothing to fix it, so I got these poly ones.

I have a '77 CJ-5 with a 258 I6, this should be the same for all 258s in CJ's.

First support the engine and transmission with a floor jack and a couple 2x4's to spread out the load. Use caution so you dont damage your oil pan. I recommend a hard surface, but you make with what you have and I live down a dirt path and have a dirt driveway. Not the best but it works.

Remove the oil filter, if the oil is old this is a good time to change it. If you put it in yesterday like I did then try and re-use your oil filter and don't spill any. Once the oil filter is off it should look like the picture above.

Go under Jeep and remove the underside nut from the motor mount, it should be a 5/8". Then remove the three bolts holding the motor mount bracket to the engine they are 9/16". Remove both the motor mount and the bracket together, this will make it easier to re-install. Some jimmying of the Jack may be required to lift it out.

Remove old mount from bracket and install new one the same way you took the old one off.

Nice and straight, it was slanted to the left before.

Each side is about the same process, so just repeat.

Maybe someone should move this to tech? I didn't look before.
