I'm itching to the the trails again! We'll meet at the Broken Arrow trailhead Saturday morning around 8:30am and leave from there. There'll probably be some NAXJA guys there also.
Post up here so I can get a good headcount.
Let's wheel!!:)

You can PM me also, and I'll keep track that way. If the group gets too big, I can arrange for another leader for a second group.
Thanks.

If we can get someone to lead on some other trails, I'd be up for spending the whole day up there. Find some place to set up camp for the night. I don't have to work on Monday so I might just stay Sunday night too...

New schedule...let's get together for breakfast before the run at The Coffee Pot. Let's all meet at 7AM there. That will also give the folks who aren't sure where the trailhead is an easier place to find. The Coffee Pot is right on the main street in West Sedona. For those who want to just meet at the trail, the group will be there around 9AM or so and we'll leave right after airdown.
See you there!

How long does it take to get through broken arrow?
I haven't been on any trails in Sedona yet. My jeep isn't very built, but she does well. I got 31s and a 2 inch lift.

Are you camping at payett? I might end up going there if no one wants to camp in Sedona.

IMO, Payette Draw would NOT be a good idea w/31s and a 2" lift.
That trail's tougher than anything Sedona has.

I may be going on the Payette run, so not likely to be around. FYI, Veteran's Day Weekend will be VERY busy on Broken Arrow--make your plans to break up into small groups. ;)

My TJ's about ready. I need to remount my CB and maybe change the fluid in the Atlas.
Anyone got a long list to do this week? (Morgan??:D)

CaptainMorgan
11-04-2007, 07:03 PM
Since you asked.

In addition to the clutch and headgasket(might not need this, not sure yet), I might be installing a fresh dana20 too...Raul is picking it up for me tommorow and hopefully bringing it up...if I dont get to that it should have no effect on the trip, our dana20 is ok, just ratty, rusty and old. The restoration sure is coming along though...

Honestly if I get two of the three things on this done I will be happy. BA would be a sweet shekedown run for the new stuff. I can't wait to get a new clutch in there...the throwout bearing has been growling for 6 months...hopefully it isnt the trans bearings or anything...if so I got a t-150 I could buy from the same guy that has the dana20...so there is a possibility for a tranny swap too...but I am trying to keep things simple.

Oh and if I can get it I want to install new clutch linkage...but I think that will take a while to get delivered...if my current linkage set-up fails on BA I can fix it with nothing more than an adjustable wrench and some swearing.

Now I'm REALLY confused....you're thinking of getting rid of a T-18 for a T-150?? Why?

Now I'm REALLY confused....you're thinking of getting rid of a T-18 for a T-150?? Why?

Only if the t-18 needs a rebuild...I would never get rid of the t-18 for good...just if I needed another trans in the CJ while I rebuilt it...the t-150 is $100 if I need it. Don't worry, I haven't lost my mind.

You had me worried for a second!:D
I had a T-18 behind a 360 in my old CJ-7, and it was an amazing rig. I wish I'd never sold that one!:(

That's funny, I am planning a 360 for this Jeep...within the next year I would like to see it between the framerails.

It was a good bit more money for the swap than I'd planned, but I LOVED the result. It was also pretty easy to break stuff with it. I twisted a front driveshaft like a candy cane with it climbing the Staircase. (using too much skinny pedal!) The driveshaft didn't break and I made it up fine. I unlocked the hubs and drove it home!
That was a FUN Jeep. It was a late '86 with the factory D44 rear and a D300 t-case.

:( My new t-case wont be here until Monday, was maybe gonna be here thursday....looks like I am out...I dont think I can make it without a t-case. I would just throw the old one in temporarily and go but I have to drop the tranny to get it in and out...since I am doing the clutch it is a perfect time. Just not for B.A. I'm bummed, maybe the TJ will be back...doubtful.

17th sounds good. I might set up a run if nobody has by the time I get one Jeep back on the road. At least by the 17th the TJ should be back home. I plan to have the tranny re-installed next tuesday-wednesday...starting to go mad for the lack of ability to wheel. I keep telling myself how nice it will all be when it is done and at least it isn't costing too much because I am doing it myself.

I'm doing BA on the 24th also. (full-moon run!) I could do that trail every weekend. It's scenic, and it's CLOSE!
You can also have a great time on Broken Arrow without worrying too much about trashing your rig.

What an awesome run!
We had a small group; it ended up being just two Jeeps. This was PERFECT because Clay was on his FIRST trail ride and I got to spend a little extra time showing him the trail and the good photo spots.
