Who makes a good Dana 44 full spool for an 04 LJ with stock gears?

Why? If nothing else put in a Lock-right. Especially for a D.D. I would think a spool for a D.D. would be hard on shafts, gears, and tires.

I have been looking into the good and bad. Good point is, the spool is better for the gears, no loading and unloading. The bad, loose turning radius on pavement. Still looking for more info, but so far I like the idea.

I've talked to Lance (well PM) and he is the one who gave me the idea. Trying to find a good manufacturer.

I have had my rear spooled for almost 2 years. It is my DD. I cannot wait to go back to a selectable locker. It eats wheel bearings, extremely fast tire wear, tricky handling (esp in the rain or snow/ice), broken shafts, they just are not fun anymore. I have consumed 2 sets of tires in that time, and ~18,000 miles.
If your Jeep sees any street time, go another route than a spool. The cost savings of a spool will be offset within the first year by putting new tires on due to premature wear. Spools are great offroad, and fine on the highway, but if you do any city driving, they are far from ideal.

I put a mini spool in my 8.8 last weekend and it is a PITA around town. It is my DD as well, and I will probably go to a no slip within the next month. Pitch, it sucks even more with short arms! Weird handling around corners. But it was awesome on the trail!

Besides that you will hate the way it handles on the road.:)
