I would like to run the powerline trail on Nov. 10. I have not run this trail and so I am looking for some people that have run it before, specifically someone to lead. I love morning runs when the air is still crisp. I was thinking meeting around 730 or 800 at the trailhead inside the campground. i also have no idea how long this trail is or how long it will take. i am running 33's on 3.5" lift with an aussie locker in the front. I am lacking in recovery gear (no winch, no hi-lift) so hopefully this wont cause a problem. post up if you are interested in leading or attending. this will be my first post-summer run and my jeep is giddy

No recovery gear....you don't need it.
I regret to inform you that Hackberry and Powerline are now highways. I was just up there last weekend and it's a dirt road all the way to Hackberry Creek. Actually, I haven't tried powerline in a couple years, but quite a bit has been blasted recently. There's now a very smooth road that takes you to the big slab (which is also probably gone...by the rusted car) from the main road, where you enter through the gate just past the campground. Hackberry is now a highway all the way to the windmill. I saw a suburu parked just past the windmill last weekend. Too bad, but we all knew it was coming.
RIP Hackberry :(

Look into Telegraph Line from Superior to Ajax mine. From there you can go into Florence through Box Canyon or out to the US60. It is ok for stockers but lots of fun. I have run it twice with stockers.

Are you talking about the back way in? I haven't done that yet. I saw that trail still open and not blasted by the Windmill though. You come in from the 77. Supposed to be fairly gnarly

So you are telling me that it's all graded from oakflats to the Rockfin where Old Chevy hill is? Or are you talking about the entrance west of Oak Flats because that was all graded the last time I was there. Did they grade the whole Hackberry side (west side of the loop) of the trail yet? Because it looked like they were going to start. This really sucks if they did!

The back way is very scenic but in no way is it gnarly, unless it's covered in snow.

Not sure about "Chevy hill". I didn't go in that way. Someone will have to do a recon to verify, but don't be surprised if it's gone.
They did grade the whole Hackberry side starting from the cattle guard about a 1/4 mile past the campround off Magma Mine road all the way to the windmill by the sh*t pond at the creek.

Yeah thats what I saw the last time I was out there, but the rest of the trail hadn't been touched. I usually enter through Oak Flats campground rather then the Magma Mine road entrance. I plan on running out there when my son gets into town and hopefully they haven't graded any farther than the Green Valley where the windmill is.

I was actually suggesting another trail in the area if Powerline had been graded. Telegraph takes you over the mountains from Superior to FJ area past Ajax Mine.

Is all the grading from the new mine going in up there?

**The powerline, slab and the hills back near the pond areas are NOT graded.**
They are actually getting rougher and rougher, minus the powerline ledge where someone moved the large rock down.
See my post here w/ trail report on the access and grading -
