Hey all, I am new to this club but have a tad bit experience wheeling. LanceTKenyon and I are discussing offroading in the White Tanks on Nov. 3rd.
Not sure of the trails I will leave that up to Lance, my fearless leader.

I'm interested. I can do up to a 4. Ladder is about the worst I've done out there. Are you intested in trail cruising, geocaching, or rock crawling? Which trails? Or just exploring up to the level of those who show up? I have GPS and maps of the area and know some of the trails.

Where is Ladder? Appetizer, Tax Collector, Tie Rod Wash, Landslide, Firebird, Ruler, Lower and Upper Scorpion, Asylum, Decapitator, Turtle Falls, Intimidator, Cliff Hanger, Oreo Canyon I have heard of though.

I haven't heard of any of those. My two guide books don't list them either. The books I have are Backcountry Adventures by Peter Massey and Jeanne Wilson and Guide to Arizona Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails by Charles Wells. Do I need another book?
I am interested in trail riding, rock crawling. See the last page of the Howdy thread http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/showthread.php?t=12568&page=3 for description of how the Jeep is equipped. This run is to get it offroad and test it a bit to help see what direction I need to go to upgrade it. I honestly think it is capable of 2.5 to 3.5 trails. Of course, lockers are on the list of upgrades but I think that goes without saying.

Ladder is the section of rocks just past the firebird at the end of firebird. I think it is about a 4. I did it long ago with SKI4x4 and ended up breaking in my sliders pretty well with dents. I'm up for trying some of those you've listed. Haven't heard of several of those.

If I remember right the trail at the end of Firebird is Ruler. It is a rock garden.

I think Joe (Silverback) is talking about Ruler. Haven't done it, but I did upper Scorpion last time out and it was tough enough. Not sure an open/open rig should be in there....

The only exits that I remember are at the end of Tax Collector before Firebird and at the end of Firebird before Ruler. I’m pretty sure once you start any of these trails you are committed; anyone correct me if I’m wrong. If the run starts at 7:30 and everything goes smooth (he he):D you shouldn’t have any problems getting out of there by 1-2pm.

Just got back from White tanks, and I think everybody survived, although I left before we did upper Scorpion. Yellow jeeps seemed to be having the hardest time, Firebird claimed an MTR sidewall and my tie rod. Luckily, Lance had a spare for me, thanks Lance. We pulled the old one off and had the spare on like a pit stop, and went on to Ruler. First time for me, and it was slow going, I think we had seven rigs in there when Big Jim showed up. Lots of photo ops but I intentionally didn't bring a camera, so I could concentrate on driving. I'm sure there will be some folks posting up pic's soon.
After Ruler we went over to Scorpion and it was a blast after I got out of the way, lots of interesting lines that I had never seen done before. I had to spend some time bending the end of my exhaust pipe out so that I could make it home, when I got here, I noticed that Lance's tie rod is bent too! Two tie rods in one day, must be some kind of record.
Tom H. , when you get some time, PM me about your steering parts, looks like it will be going to Lance. I'm thinking a Currie rod might have to hold me over until I can afford a custom cross-over.....

Well we got there just as they were starting Ruler, (first time for me on that trail) pulled in behind Drew and then the fun started. Up the trail we had some winching going, we had Mike and Roger, and Drew trying different lines, some worked some didn't. My son Jimmy came out with me as my spotter, I'm glad he was there, he made most of the trail easy for me..:D But not without some carnage, broke off left rear shock mount, lost my cool home made 8.8 skid plate some where  and after a year of wheeling with my Poison Spider corners I finely scratched the paint...:D Went right up Upper Scorpion. Thanks Lance for a good run and it was nice to meet some new people, I had a great time, when I get some new shocks well have to do it again.

I'm thinking a Currie rod might have to hold me over until I can afford a custom cross-over.....
You can have the custom cross-over for Christmas.
Um - what do I get? :D

I did not get a single pic. Had a blast, ran TC, FB, Ruler, Scorpion, and a new trail I am trying to decide what to call. Dustin showed us where it was, and said if we made it, we could name it. It is WAY out there, and really short, but out of the 4 built rigs that ran it, only 2 of us(me included:D), made it up the main obstacle without a winch. Nothing real nasty, but a beyotch of a breakover. I bent my Currie tie rod, again. Not bad. Dustin got some cool pics and video today, so waiting on him to get them uploaded. It was Mikes(Probable Cause) first run, and he did great! He can listen to a spotter well. Quite an accomplishment to run Ruler on your first trip. For such a big group, we ran through TC and FB pretty quick, but Ruler took us a little longer. Not everyone ran Ruler, but some walked it with us. Ruler has changed a lot, the falls are smaller, but it seems the boulders have grown. Scorpion went real quick, not much carnage except for Wayne leaving the yellow paint on the wall. A couple tie rods, 1 tire, and a shock is pretty good for the trails we ran today. Had a lot of fun with some old friends, and met a few new ones too. Look forward to wheeling with the folks again.

New one, but way out on the west side. Took about 1/2 hour to get there after we ran Scorpion. Only about 150' of obstacles, but fun anyway. Beats sitting in front of the puter web wheelin.;) Might call it "Halfazzed", cause only half of us got our azz up the fall.:D

Just want to say thanks to Lance for leading the way, had a blast on TC and Firebird. It was also nice meeting everyone, can wait to do it again. Next time I'll have to try Ruler.
Kelly, good seeing you, sorry for all that black exhaust. I'll try not to stall as much next time:D

Just thought I would show the damage from the run. The tire was apparent on the trail but the rock modified LCA mount on the front axle was a surprise today when I was crawling around under the jeep.
