THe only thing about them being in the fender, I'd worry about taking them out with a rock or the tire rubbing on them at flex.

What are those? LED? Where did you get them?
I am no expert but they appear to be shining on the tops of your tires. Can you point them past the tire to see where you are going to put/place it? And of course I can be full of crud. You are the best judge, can you poke your head out the side and she light on the ground around your tire. If you are comfortable then that is good. I feel your pain, I am toiling with where to mount mine as well.
In the first picture it looks like the lights are mounted on your hood! :D
x2, you should test to see if the tires squeezes them....

Where do people usally mount these lights..?
Maybe i need to go with smaller lights...?

They are those cheapy wallmart lights...
I should have taking the picture with out my hood lights on lol..
I will retake the pic without the hood lights on...
I am worried about location because it might be a spot where rocks or tires might rub...
But i can see good around the tire now...
I just think someone might have a better spot for them...
I am up for any suggestions..

Hey man, I am not an expert but I run 6 rocklights on my jeep. The front ones (I used 2 for infront of tires, 2 for under body, 2 for behind tires) I mounted on the front side (further away from driver) of the sheet metal used to define where the wheel well ends :p or whatever, i dont know what its called :D
Heres a post I made before showing the location of four of them, this was made before I added my last two for the rear.

Let me know if you have any questions! The rear two I mounted on the two outer screws of the gas-can skid :)

Ok i tried taking a few diferent angle shots here..
It seems i am not getting the proper side lighting..
I am pretty sure i need a new mounting spot...
Again I am open to any suggestions...

The only thing I would suggest is move the front wheel lights more towards the front of the fender and point them at the front of the tires "where the red arrow is"...
http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=14738&d=1193143107
It will give your spotter better visability...
Like this:
http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=14732&d=1193109753
The rear ones I added later so Adam "insert spotter here" doesn't have to use a flashlight when spotting me:
http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=14739&d=1193143841
I ran Elvis with my front lights on and didn't have any problems with tire rub or rocks breaking them, not to say that it's not a probability but atleast they are cheap if it does happen!!! :D

Maybe I'm paranoid, but I'm very concerned about electrical fires in a vehicle. Putting wires through a bare hole in the sheet metal like that always bugs me.

Should i maybe use electical tape around the rubbing spots...?
Or better yet heat shrink ?

Rubber grommets are your best choice, most auto parts stores have them.

That's the one. Couldn't remember what they were called (early and no caffeine yet). I'm told Ace Hardware has a good selection as well.

Careful, rock lights are an addiction ;p I couldn't stop adding until there were no dark spots within a 5 foot radius of my rig, hahaha :D
Heres with my two rear ones installed:

I highly suggest moving them to the OTHER side of that metal, inbetween like, where your front turn signal light is. Put them on the lower part of that metal flap, and point them sorta down and out. Residual light will hit your tire, but the main concern is a foot - a few feet infront of the tires. Also, then it is 0 chance of your tire hittin the light.

Ok dam maybe i will have to move em again lol...

here are a few shots of mine... the front ones are mounted to my winch plate, and point out and in front of the front tires.
and rear ones are mounted on the t-case skid, facing towards the rear wheels... more then enough light.

I love em they are great tires...
But i made a mistake and had em Facing the correct way......
I have heard that turning them to run backwards makes em get better grip and alot less slip... But you ware out your tires faster though....

Is it possible to put like 6 lights on one relay ?
Cronoh
10-24-2007, 08:12 PM
Yeah. I run 6 off of mine :p I can help if you need me to :p Even though I am pretty new, I understand it pretty well haha ;) When you do the math, those 6 lights come out to, i think 27 amps. Grab a 40 amp fuse.
ademster
10-24-2007, 08:13 PM
yes but not recommended, for mine I have each set of lights on its own relay... so frt rock lights relay 1 and rear relay two ( runs off one switch ) and front offroad lights 1 relay.
I am gonna be adding back up lights soon, which will be also on a relay.
ALWAYS USE A RELAY
Cronoh
10-24-2007, 08:14 PM
Why don't u suggest running say, 6 lights on one relay? J/w so I can learn :)
Jeep4thefun
10-24-2007, 08:19 PM
Ok dam !! lol somebody here would have to know...
I want to be safe...
Can I put 6 lights on one relay or is it safer to have a relay for each set ?
And if you do have a relay for each set can you have 3 relays and just one switch ?
Cronoh

I don't see the problem with running 6 lights (27 amps) on a 40 amp relay, so im waiting for adam to enlighten me :D
ademster
10-24-2007, 08:25 PM
The relay will eventually get real hot.. and then also the contacts will begin to short out..
I had just my 4 rock lights, all using 10 gauge wiring, and a 30 amp switch with a 30 amp fuse and a 50 amp relay...
the relay died quickly
Yes you can run 6 on one relay. just expect to replace the relay.
also... yes you can run multiple relays on one switch. just split the power wire to the relays from the switch

I am trying to find a link I posted on here a while ago that sells, pre-wired relay kits for 3 bucks plus shipping... I bought 20 of them long time ago and down to one left.. have been giving them out, and using them to wire other peoples junk...
trying to find it to show you guys, plus for me to buy more.

Ok this is gonna sound stupid but...
I have a remote switch...
I want to use it to controll all 6 of my lights...
I can figure out the install of the relays...
But i am gonna most likely need help rewiring the remote switch with thicker wire (10 Gauge)...
So any help that i could get with that part of it would be cool...
Let me know thanks, Chris
Cronoh

Your switch dosnt need 10 guage wire. All your switch should be doing is telling the relays, on/off. All the power should come from the relays for the lights :p

10-24-2007, 09:03 PM
Oh well darn thats easy then i am all set !!! This is gonna be so cool...
I love the fact that i am not gonna need to go through the firewall...
That little remote controll switch is awesome for that reason....
Thanks for the help :P
