Hi all!
As a Newbie, I'd like to thank everyone for the information on this site. It has been helpful for me to get information on trails not covered in some of the books and provided ideas for my Jeep.
2 months ago, I bought my first Jeep. My wife and I went on a Pink Jeep Tour in Sedona. I enjoyed the trip so much that I bought my own Jeep a couple of weeks after the Sedona Trip. My buddy that used to own an 84 CJ-5 helped me take a look at a couple of Jeeps to get the most for my price range. I am now the proud owner of a 1974 CJ-5. Luckily for me, the Jeep was in very good mechanical shape (i.e. newly rebuilt engine, no engine leaks....yes, there is oil in it). Here is a picture of it the day I drove it home.

My buddy, Mike, got re-hooked and bought an 86 CJ-7. We have been exploring trails just about every Saturday...which is great because we have had to help the other and hate to walk.
Details:
No Power Steering
No Power Brakes
3-Speed Standard Trans
Straight 6
Original AM radio
Since I got it, I have been having a blast.
New Items:
New Carburator (needed to clear emissions)
New wheels and 31" Baja Claws (not ready to lift just yet_
Replaced shocks and the bushings for the body and leaf springs
Newer seats (the original seats are too low)
Custom Body work (back into a boulder at De Soto Mine trail)
