I'm eventually going to want to lift my Jeep....but how's that going to work with my current set-up? Currently I have the electronic front sway bar disconnect that came with my Rubicon. Am I going to be able to keep this function when I get a lift? Are there any lift manufacturers out there that offer this? And more importantly does the electronic disconnectable sway bar allow for optimal articulation or is a manually disconnected sway bar superior and therefore I should just remove this option when I do get a lift.
Side note...This is my first Jeep and I am just starting to get into off roading so I'm going to have a lot of questions. Please bear with me...this site is awesome and I'm learning more and more everyday. Thanks for understanding.

I would think you will retain the factory system with a lift. Of course there are going to be aftermarket sway bars too, but you shouldnt have any trouble unless it breaks...then upgrade.

You will keep this system. I recommend getting to currie front extended sway bar links they are the same ones them use on their antirock.

X2, you will keep upper control arms and you will need to get extended swaybar links so the sway bar stays level. You can lift by using a 2" budget boost (Fit 33" tires) or a 3-4" using new lower control arms/trac bar...etc

no worries. the system stays intact, the only thing that changes is the links from the end of the sway bar (they must be longer). As far as I know the elec. disc. system, it is fine for articulation b/c the bar gets disconnected and will not hold up the axle from articulating, as far as I know (if i'm wrong please correct me:).)

That's not necessarily true Jason. Not all JK suspension systems retain the stock upper control arms.
However everyone is spot on about the sway bar. It is a great tool that Jeep built into the JK's and works exactly like it's supposed to when you are offroad and on. I can't remember what speed it is, but it has a mechanism that locks it back in when you hit a certain speed.

Welcome!
As stated, you will need the longer links which should come with whatever lift kit you add. If you go with a 2" budget boost, you can get away with leaving the stock links, or even swap in a set of rear links.
The articulation with the factory power system is nice, and it will automatically reconnect at 18 mph and then blink at you for being an idiot if you forget to reconnect. Just push the button again to make it stop flashing.
FYI, the wiring harness to the sway bar disco unit is, shall we say, somewhat less than ideally suited for actual offroad circumstances. If your sway bar light flashes at you even when you have connected or disconnected, and nothing you do gets it to stop flashing, it is time for a trip to the dealer ASAP. If your dealer gives you any guff about a lift or mud, then you need to go to a dealer who speaks Jeep, like Airpark or Oxendale. I could go into great detail on this, but suffice to say, flashing lights on your JK are not to be taken lightly (pun intended).
Happy trails!
