I was considering beefing up the protection on my TJ and after I get my hands on some ShrockWorks Rockers, a cage of some sort will be next more than likely.

My needs are fairly simple and my concern is more for the slow moving roll over so that the force would crush my windshield and my head with it. I'm also concerned that during a slow roll over, protruding rocks/boulders could enter into the rear area where my son would be.

So, I would presume that the windshield can't withstand this but what about the sport bars that are on a stock TJ?. Are they suitable to just add aftermarket bars such as those found here: http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?jeep-sid=219&plID=0&partID=14246 or is it just best to go for the custom fabricated full cage that is secured to the frame and not just the body tub?

Feedback as always is welcome as well as any pros and cons to either option.

BTW, I've been checking out the pics of everyone's cages already and there seems to be a huge range of protection opted for.

Thanks folks.

get monkeybars to do yours by PM'ing GRISWOLD (http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/private.php?do=newpm&u=111) here on the board or get a Poison Spyder Trail cage if youre not over 6ft tall and have one of the shops beef up the stock rear portion. I dont trust bolt in after the stock collapsed on me.

I had a welding/4x4 buddy weld some additions to my cage. He also welded the joints so the whole thing is solid. I have bars that also run down the side(parallel to the A-post. these tie into the windshield bolt plates. In addition he put a tongue on it that rests on the firewall beteween the windshield frame and the firewall, this adds rigidity to it. It is now very similar to the poison spybder "trail cage." If I had the money I would get the poison spyder full cage with floor tie ins.

There are several fabricators here on the forum/club. Hunter(the guy who host our annual X-mas BBQ) makes all kinds of cages to your exact specs/desires. You should post what you want and have the fabricators submit offers/projects! :D

I second the vote for a Monkeybars cage.(Griswold). Wayco and I can vouch for the quality of his work. And the installed price of a quality welded in cage is comparable to a bolt in unit that you have to install yourself. I remember when it used to look like this.:o
