Let's keep it going!
Remember, even if you can't donate or collect donations, your presence

the victims in Payson. I encourage all AZVJC members to consider

Okay so I have a bunch of stuff that has been donated by the Hotel

accepting donations through mid-day tomorrow....
Let me know if some close to Scottsdale might have some extra room if

Subject: catching up.........moving Jeep and Payson run
Hi All
Between moving and having Yahoo bouncing me I haven't gotten any of
the list mail for almost a week now. Here's a few things to catch up
on:
- To the person who asked if I'm the one in the green truck that led
one of the groups to Crown King for the anniversary run......Yes I am.
- To all the people who volunteered to help move Pam's Jeep...THANK
YOU. I didn't get any of the messages until today. I'm kinda
screwed for moving it at the moment (no place to put it yet...garage
full), so I'll probably just call one of the 'Tow 4 Less' guys and
have it taken to the new house when I have room in the garage.
- Payson relief run -- I can't make it this weekend due the moving
schedule I'm stuck with. BUT......the firefighters and displaced
people are still going to need more help after this weekend. There
are lots of contribution efforts going on right now, so I think we
should keep in contact with the authorities in the affected area and
find out what they DIDN'T get in the first round of contributions and
schedule a second or maybe third run to show our continued support.
Even if it's something as simple as hauling all the bottled water out
to the fire lines for the fire fighters. If we volunteer to act in a
non-dangerous (no liability issues for the FS) support capacity, we
can free up some of their personell and vehicles to fight the fire.
I'll be done (well, close enough that I can take a break) with moving
after this weekend, so I will be available for any future support
efforts.

Joe, now what would be interesting, is to weigh the Jeep on a split platform
scale (truck stops have 'em), and see what the weight distribution is. To be
really "useful", like if you were getting custom springs made, you'ld want
the Jeep with the normal gear you carry in the field, a full tank of gas,
and you in the drivers seat. That's what I've been checking, and it's a real
eye opener. I don't have the figures with me right now (I'm at work), but I
did post the last set up here a month or two ago. I'm now down to 50 lbs
difference between the front and rear halves. I don't remember what the
total weight was. I'm thinking maybe 4400 lbs. That's with full field gear,
full tank of fuel, and me in the Jeep. I'm happy about the weight
distribution, but would like to get the total weight down ;)
And to answer a statement/question that you posted a day or two ago, yes, I
am an engineer, for Bell & Howell ;)
Cheers,
Fred

I'll be done (well, close enough that I can take a break) with moving
after this weekend, so I will be available for any future support
efforts.

Speaking of rakes, I was just shown what my company is donating...
12 rakes
12 shovels
3 boxes of scratch pads
2 boxes of carpenter pencils
a bundle (about 20 or so) of leather gloves
a box of goggles
a box of dust masks
I will need to drop this stuff off to someone that is going on the

Cheers,
Fred
