Lets start by hiking the wrong mountain. Dustin was good enough to provide three different sets of coordinates and I of course pick the wrong set. The end of the coordinates I was following had a decimal at the end. Those were not the right ones. :o I was honestly just in a hurry to find the mythical PVC Cache and didn't realize my mistake until I had climbed 2,500 ft straight up the wrong moutain. But at least the view was great!

When I started out I figured I couldn't see the PVC pipe because the sun was in my eyes. (It was actually because it was .5 miles away on a different mountain)

1,200ft above the Jeep

No where to go but up, I started trying to figure out if Dustin was crazy enough to scale a wall while holding a canister. "And where the heck is that piece of PVC"

"Maybe Dustin wasn't kidding when he told Mark to bring a rope"

I just gotta go a little higher. Its gotta be right up there.

As I was enjoying the view I took another look at the GPS. According to what I saw I should of been standing next to it. Then I saw the decimal point.

Took 40 minutes to get back down.

Get back to the CJ. Its 4:15PM. I am defeated.

After re-entering the CORRECT coordinates for my GPS I decide to head around the mountain and give it one more go.

This was almost my first "roll and flops" picture.

Tried taking the hill in 2WD, lost traction and attempted braking but the drum rears on a CJ don't have the stopping power when you slide backwards. Slid sideways and waited for the worst. Landed here. Got out and locked the hubs and moved on. The PVC was calling!

This trail was got fun. The hills were great.

Getting warmer

About a 1/4 of the way up. Its not the fall your worried about, its what you'll hit on the way down. Those yellow cactus are killers. Bring Pliers!

This was a tricky part. All the rock breaks off as soon as you get a grip on it.

Good views

Got down the mountain just in time to watch the sunset.

I thought I was on the right road to get back to Sun Valley, should have gone back the way I came.

The BLM needs to work on exits from this area. I know there is one or two on the west side of Sun Valley Parkway, but had a hell of a time finding it.
Finally got back to blacktop.

Hell of a day. Thanks again Dustin!

Good job Doug! Glad you were able to get out and find this one. Did you mark those exits to the west on your gps? You might need them again.:D

I had one exit marked from out WT run a few weeks back but I kept running into a dead end, go back the other way, find another wash or trail, dead end, etc... Frustrating when you can see cars on Sun Valley Parkway but you can't get through the barbwire. My fault though, I shouldn't have been wheeling alone to start with.
