Subject: maintainance run

Hi all

I don't want to volunteer my company's property before talking with some
people at work, but I MIGHT be able to swing a parking lot in front of one
of the valley Checker stores. This would give us a ready supply of parts
(sorry, I can't use my employee discount for everybody) and a place to
dispose of used oil. Our stores aren't set up to recycle anti-freeze, but
we can handle engine oil, trans fluid, and gear oil. The only problem would
be that none of our parking lots are covered, so we would be working in the
sun.

Wherever we go, if there is 110v power available I can bring my compressor
and air tools to make life a little easier.

Depending on where we do it, we could make it a 'Show and Shine' run
also......draw some crowds, let everybody drool over our rigs, etc.

I'll make some inquiries tomorrow at work. The only problem I see is the
possible liability of someone getting hurt and filing a lawsuit against the
company/property owner. This will be an issue wherever we go, so I would
suggest limiting the work to minor tune-ups, minor repairs, fluid changes
(with the proper containers), and inspections for major work to be performed
later.

Never been, but I hear that the Hassayampa River bed is a good place to run. Also, anybody know about glowing caves up in Wickenburg?

Hints tips and cautions would be nice too.... Anyone else want to tag along? (the wife said "Dang will I ever get a chance to do laundry?") Sounds like a Wheeling good time to me, Something 3.0 and under would be a nice trail after last weekends run.

Hey Len!
That would be great if we could get on a checker lot. A close supply of parts would be a heck of a bonus. I agree this should probably be a minor fixin day. Anything heavyduty should be done on someones own time later, though we can check for any major repair needs. I fiqure we won't be able to find shade but its a dry heat huh?! I'll add you on the list for a compressor and air tools available.

Are we running the same trail this time or is it something new? I'm still debating whether or not to go so please tell me there is something new there to challenge me :)

Subject: Re: This weekend in Tucson

More info on the Tucson Run on Saturday. It looks as though the meeting
time may be pushed until 2pm at the Abco on the corner of Tanque Verde and
Catalina Highway due to some people working Saturday morning.

Directions: From Phoenix go south on I10 to Tucson and exit at Grant Road.
Head East on Grant Road. This will go quite a ways (i.e. to the other side
of Tucson) Grant wil run into Tanque Verde Road (shortly after the Wilmot
intersection) where you will turn left (a McDonalds on the right corner an
Exxon on the left corner) Follow Tanque Verde until you come to Catalina
Highway (the Sheriff's office will be on the left). The Abco sits in the
Northeast corner of this intersection.

Option #2. We could arrange a meeting time at approx 1:30pm on Saturday to
meet the people coming from Phoenix that is closer to the I10 exit, thus
easier to find. We can then meet the rest of the group at 2pm at the Abco.

Trail Description. The trail starts back the Chivo Falls trail. We will be
going in through the Three Feathers route. However instead of going to the
falls we make a left down the creek bed to the pools where we will be
relaxing for the afternoon and camping out. Rating probably a stout 3 to
average 3.5 (feel free to agree or disagree on the rating Scott or Leah)
Time on the trail will probably only be one and half to 2 hours to get back
to the pools. It should be a good relaxing trip and the water shold be
cool.

Feel free to let us knwo of there are more questions.

Thanks,
Jeffrey

Scott. You will have run the first part of this trail already since you did
the Redington Loop run. The part of the trail you have not been on will not
be that difficult. Of course if you want a challenge there is the right
side of Three Feathers on the way down (same place where the chute was)
<grin> It should be fun though.

Dave,

I am almost tempted to join Leah, Scott, and Jeffrey from Tucson. Last time I was down there to run the Reddington Loop I had a great time. I don't think it's all that much cooler down there, but I just might come on down.

Leah,

Are we running the same trail this time or is it something new? I'm still debating whether or not to go so please tell me there is something new there to challenge me :)

Hello,

I'm new to this group and would like to introduce myself..... I'm Jeff Walter and I have a 1995 Wrangler
Jeep and I'm looking into doing some off roading and looking for a group that doesn't mind helping the slower person along. I have read many of you postings and it looks like all of you have a great time getting together and showing off you Jeeps. As time permits I would like to attend some of the events that might be planned.

Hi ya all!!!

This weekend we were actually not planning to head out to the trail until
around 3pm, that way everyone who has to work can join. There looks to be
quite a few people going. It should be a great time. If anyone needs to
contact me....just send an email to me and I'll email my personal phone
number as a way to contact. We always meet at the ABCO at Tanque Verde and
Catalina HWY. For those of you who may be comming from out of town email me
and I can set up a place to meet you that is close to I-10 so as to make
things easier for you.

Scott -osmtj,

This trail is almost identical to one we took you on before, but rather than
doing the entire loop, it goes off to the east to the "Three Ponds" area.
This trail would not be any more of a challenge than the last time you were
here.....We are going for a more social time for this run....thats why we
chose this area.

Hope to see as many of you as can make it!!!

TIA,

Scott - '93 YJ in Tucson

A stock vehicle can make it, however....it will be a little rough and will
take good driving skills to ensure no damage. A lift would make a huge
difference. :)

ok...

Looks as though we may end up leaving in two separate groups. Those who
would like to leave earlier can drive up there with Jeffrey, I will stay
back for some people who cannot leave until 3pm. Anyone who wants to go can
work final arrangements out with us prior to Friday eve.

Thanks,

Well, I was really looking forward to some camping and hiking up at the Ciders, but I suppose we could postpone...but not for too long I hope :o) . It may actually be best for me, since Louisa was wanting to head up there, and she can't on that weekend (7/9). If it's DuPont on the 10th, I'd be up for some camping...if there are some spots along the way. I NEED a camping fix, LOL.

I would like to do this run. When we proposed a couple of dates for the
Lockett Meadow/Cinders, a lot of you said 7/9-7/11 would be good. But this
conflicts with the Dupont cabin run.

We could postpone the Cinders run to a later date, or we could do the Cinders
as well for those who don't want to do Dupont, and do it again at a later
date.
