Excellent points. Due to the tinder dry conditions out there, I'm not
wheeling at all this summer. Got the shakes...but they're getting better
now. Working on the Jeep helps.

Here is a couple of things to consider.
1. The lockrite is only rated to 33 by powertrax. Many people have run
it with 35"+ tires though.
2. The lockrite is a hard locker design. By this I mean there is no
syncro ring to make the locking smoother.
3. If you are regearing you will probally need a new carrier.
4. So now do some math based on Macromovtive AZVJC discounted prices.
Lockrite $248 + carrier ~$50 = $300 for a lockrite
5. A full detroit locker with has a much stonger case and is a soft
locker is only $455 with VJC discount.
If you are interested in absolute lowest dollar then the lockrite is the
choice; however, if you want the strength to not worry about big tires
then the Detroit is the way to go.
I can also tell you from personal experience the street manners of the
Detroit are so much better you wouldn't even think it is a locker after
driving a lockrite.

Not quite right but I agree with the idea. I would realy like to know
why the fire was not hammered on tuesday when it was small, the idea
that it was burning into an area that had previously burned and posed
little danger was a gross error. Someone should loose thier job at
the least! Showlow could be in danger, this is some of my favorite
part of the state. I hope they get control of it today. Anything more
on the parttime employee that started the CO fire? I would realy like
to know if she did do this for the attention.

I have lock-rights in mine but I would not recommend them for you. Go
for it. I would go for the OX locker rear and either OX or ARB front.
The Powertrax will be pushed with the vortec and 36's so not a wise
idea.

I don't think you want Sharky's phone number for an alignment... I think you
want flexy Joe's phone number.
Sharky's idea of an alignment consists of rolling his jeep until the wheels
point in different directions...
he hasn't perfected his method yet so you may want to stick with Flexy Joe.

think that she set the fire intentionally and staged

canyon in 100+ weather (which could be avoided with an electric fan) every
other time I have looked at it the needle was right at 190 always. This is
by far the BEST radiator I have put in front of the Chevy 350

Subject: [az_vjc] Re: Radiator
I just had the same thing happen to me the week before last, and I
decided to get a new radiator. I went with a 3-core model, and had
originally decided to go with a GDI (Go-Dan Industries) heavy duty
model. Sadly, I found out that They do not produce one for my vehicle,
but the staff at the place I got it were very helpful and gave me a
smokin deal on a 3-core CSF radiator (I have no idea what CSF stands
for, though...). The CSF model was extremely well-built, and went in
perfectly in place of my old stock 2-core.
I hope I don't sound like an advertisement, but I was very pleased
with the people at 1-800-radiator, also known as www.radiator.com . I
compared prices, even other websites, and these guys had the best
price anywhere. I wouldn't recommend re-coring or trying to repair
your radiator, when you can get an extremely well-built brand new one
for only a few bucks more. I would also recommend getting the HD
3-core for use here in AZ.
To be fair, I own a XJ, and perhaps other folks with other Jeeps may
have other opinions. I have only dealt with this store once, and
perhaps I just had a really good experience...but I gotta say that the
euphoria of driving around town with the outside temperature near 115
degrees and having my radiator barely hit 210 in traffic with the AC
set on high is something that I feel I gotta congratulate somebody
for. It was an easy repair, and the results were immediate and rather
stunning.
Good luck with your quest!

I've been pretty quiet (more like non-existant) on the list lately,

will commence soon.
Here's my problem: I need to move the rolling chassis of Pam's CJ5

problems and won't be able to tow a trailer with my truck until I re-

it's before the end of the month.

Subject: Help with clutch/transmission diagnosis
We have a 97 TJ sport with 100,000 miles, OEM clutch.
Problem:
Hard shifting, especially down-shifting.
It grinds bad going into 3rd, less so into 2nd, and 5th.
It doesn't grind as bad shifting up through the gears.
Worse when it's cold, when it warms up.
What I've done:
Clutch master cylinder is full.
Neither master or slave cylinder shows any leakage.
No unusual noises.
Double-clutching works, sometimes, other times it makes no change.
What I've heard:
Synchronizer gears worn
Clutch worn
Throwout bearing broken
Slave cylinder bad
Any help would be appreciated. It seems to be getting worse daily
and I'd like to get it fixed before the wife gets stranded on the
road somewhere.
Thanks.

Subject: Off-Roader Sets Fire Near Heber
Just heard on Channel 5 news:
The CH5 news helicopter spotted a fire near Heber and when they went to investigate, they spotted a woman waving at them. When the A/C landed, the woman told them that she and a friend were 4 wheeling when they ran out of gas 3 days ago. The woman said she set the fire to attract attention. The fire has already burned about 150 acres, and they are getting ready to evacuate Heber and Overgaard because of it. (sp?).
Wasn't this one of the areas closed off????? This could definitely give us a black eye, huh????

I have only dealt with this store once, and
perhaps I just had a really good experience...but I gotta say that the
euphoria of driving around town with the outside temperature near 115
degrees and having my radiator barely hit 210 in traffic with the AC
set on high is something that I feel I gotta congratulate somebody
for. It was an easy repair, and the results were immediate and rather
stunning.
Good luck with your quest!

trailer and drag it over with my truck, but I'm having electrical
problems and won't be able to tow a trailer with my truck until I re-
wire the back half. I'm running with one hot-wired brake light right
now. Is there anybody in the north-west valley that has a truck and
car hauler that could give me a hand? I'll pay for gas, beer, pizza,
or whatever. When it gets done is not really important as long as
it's before the end of the month.
The CJ is at Cave Creek and Thunderbird and needs to go to 75th Ave
and Olive.
Thanks in advance!!

I have two 33x12x15 BFG AT's with about 10% tread left on them that
I'd like to get rid of. These would make great trail spares. They
are free if you'll come pick them up at Cave Creek and Thunderbird.
Email me to work out a time to get them.

Hi all
I've been pretty quiet (more like non-existant) on the list lately,
but hopefully that will soon change. Pam and I closed escrow on our
new house last Tuesday WOO HOO!! Wrenching parties in my new garage
will commence soon.
