you could probly make it in 2wd if you had to...I've done more with less.

Another vote for not a problem for your setup... A friend of mine made it with his stock TJ on 215 75 R/15 tires. (Equivalent to 27 inch tires.)

There are some sections where you will just need to be aware of your clearance so you don't bend a tie rod (mostly near the top)

Once you start getting up into the pines, you will see camping everywhere... Most of the good established camping sites will be within a mile from Crown King along the road you come in on.

CK can jump up and bite you at any time leaving you miles from anywhere bring whatever spares you have and be ready. Lots of water.

This trail has gotten easier and easier over the years. There's perhaps 2 sections that would be a slight challenge in 2wd. The rest would would be a cakewalk in just about anything higher than a passenger car. Okay, a novice might have more problem in 2wd....

I think he is referring to the annual CK run we did this year. There was a guy who was running a YJ with no front DS and 29" ATs. I had to tug him up in more than a few spots. Then he got a flat, and didn't have a key for his spare. Not a big deal, but he was underprepared. I think there are definately rigs here that could easily make this run in 2WD, but most of those people have a locker in the rear, and aggresive tires. A stock Jeep with available 4WD could easily make this trail with careful tire placement, with 98% driven in 2WD. I think the guy in question learned that he was in over his head, which was a good learning experience for him. I would bet $$$ he won't show up for a run again, without being more prepared and have a front DS and spare.

Yea, thats the way they are talking about also. The bigger the tire, the easier the trail seems. You will probably bump skids a few times but shouldnt have major issues.

I ran it in a completely stock Unlimited on 30" GSA tires the night after it snowed 8 inches. I bumped my belly pan a few times and scraped my receiver, but that was it. I also ran a few of the options, but only the easier ones.
