Global warming has more to do with methane hydrate than humans...but
whatever...the greenies want you to believe it's all our fault. :) Sure,
some of it is our fault...look at all the cattle we raise for beef. :-)

What amuses me is that people think they can predict the future when they've
only been actively studying these things for a few decades, if that. Yes,
there's global warming, yes there's global cooling, too...it's a cycle.
FWIW, the release of methane hydrate from the ocean floor will cause more
rapid global warming than humans could even try to do, save for nuclear war.
It's been the cause of global warming before humans were even around
(Evidence found from studying the ocean floor).

Thanks or the information.

This reminds me of the old joke;

If "pro" is the opposite of "con" and "progress" means, to move
forward. What does "congress" mean?

Just a thought.

Robert Heinlein a great thinker and author said that a population
of about 70,000 people would be enough people so you could never
meet all of them in your life and there would be plenty of
diversity (OH NO!!! the D word!!!) to make social interaction
interesting. Also plenty of diversity (That word again!!) for the

If you had the technology to support a limited population such as
this (which we do if forced to utilize it) it seems a pretty nice
proposition to me.

All we have to do is run over another hundred or so eco-terrorists with
our Jeeps and the world population will once again be in check. Who
wants to help?

All that is required for this group run is meaty tires and a desire to
save the environment.

True this is interesting. Especially since most of the Virtual Jeep Club
seems to be bent on rock crawling, myself included. I suppose its the
terrain around here.

Does anyone else in this club run trails for speed or something other than
rocks?

I Assume this club is open to all types of 4 wheeling, but I have never seen
a run for anything other than General Wheeling, and Rock crawling, and maybe
Dunning. Any Wash races around here, Im sure we have enough of them

Subject: I need some help, BAD!

Hey fellow jeepers!

Well it's been a long time since I've talked to ya'll but that's for
a good reason. I've been really busy trying to get ready to move out
there from Illinois. I have a few questions/pleads for advise.

First, I would like to tow a trailer (4x8x4) out there (Scottsdale)
but I am having problems finding a place to rent a trailer from.
Primarily because there policies won't allow them to attach a trailer
to a vehicle that doesn't have a hard top. Seeing as I only have a
soft top on my '97 TJ that imposes a problem. Has anyone come
accross this issue? If so where did you rent a trailer from or how
did you resolve this issue?

Next, let's say I do end up getting a trailer. Has anyone had a
problems towing a long distance with '97 TJ?

Lastly, I have been out of work since November. Which is one of the
main reasons for me moving out there. I have worked in the
IT/Computer industry for 6 years now, but have had no luck with
finding a job out here in IL. I love working with my hands (i.e. -
working on my jeep) and am willing to do almost any job within
reason. The pay isn't a major issue but I'd like to at least have a
steady income. If anyone knows of any job opportunites in the IT
industry or anything else such as something like a beginner
mechanic...or ANYTHING, please let me know. I am moving out there
the beginning of July and would love to start working as soon as
possible.

Any info you guys/gals can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The knights then proclaimed the world to be 3,000 years old and all wizards

The End.

Wade,

I worked for U-HELL, ERR, I mean U-Haul for three months, and am
unaware of any requirement on the towing vehicle having a hard top.

I would challenge that one. Think of all the convertable top cars out
there.

As long as your TJ has an approved trailer hitch, you should be fine.
If the rental company has any issues, show them a copy of your owners
manual. It has information and ratings of the vehicle's towing
capacity.

Jobs are scarce all over the country. I wouldn't not move out here
because I didn't have or not have a job waiting. It sounds like you
are willing to make a career move.

The four wheeling out here is worth (in my opinion) the move alone!

Good luck in your move!

I do not know of any races for jeeps but the Daemon at Toybox could
link you to some race people. Race vehicles have to have soft
suspensions with lots of travel, having a light but tough vehicle is
a great plus. I wonder where else this would be an advantage. I would
like to talk to some of these guys and get a look at those jeeps.

Wade,

U-Haul does have this policy. I still cannot figure out why they
would inforce this for a vehicle with a "roll bar". I worked at their
R&D plant here for 2.5 years and a neighbor of mine owns/runs a U-
Haul outlet (he confirmed their policy).

You could do a few things:
Buy a trailer to use then sale it when you get out here.
Rent a truck and a car hauler then pull the Jeep out here.
Ship your stuff with a moving company.
Find another rental company that will let you rent a trailer.
Get someone with a truck to go with you then rent the trailer, go
home and hook it up to the Jeep.

The later of these sounds better to me.

Your Jeep ought to do fine pulling this trailer as long as you have
the 6 cylinder & take it slow.

Good luck.
