Ah yes, the so-called global warming....

Isn't it amazing how the press neglects to tell you that most of the global
warming seen in the last century happened in the FIRST HALF of the last
century, before there were the vast number of vehicles (land and air) that
we have today. Yet they still insist that burning fossil fuels is the
cause? The scientific evidence does not back up that theory; several
scientists hypothesized that the Earth's temperature is in constant flux,
rising and falling. Meaning, that we're just as likely to see another
Ice-Age as we are to see the Ice-Caps melt.

Remember the media is not your friend. They will tell you what THEY want
you to hear and anyone that thinks they don't have an agenda has their head
in the sand.

I talked to some GreenPeace folks at the entrance to Tempe
Library the other day. They were very nice people and they
drove their cars to Tempe to hand out their pamphlets.

No, what will really happen in the end is we will keep
burning hydrocarbon fuels and heating up the environment
until a major earth-changing event like a catastrophic
melt of the polar ice caps and possible shift in earth's
rotational axis occurs. Then I suppose we shall have learned a
lesson. =) But even so, I think life, and humans in
particular, will find a way.

The original Scientist that came up with the green house effect(affect)
lives here in AZ. He stated that even his "theory" is wrong and
incorrect. Media and Greenies will use anything they can to prove their
point.

Your exact words, Neither Scott or I twisted them in any way;P

Your right, the real reason why I don't have a 8.8 in my tj is:

See, I can be opinionated too. Just dont forget the truss when you do the Super 35, then you will have 1600 + bucks into an axle that you cant get spares for(until you brake one) have fun getting home though.

My $1200 8.8 (including disks, detroit, gears etc. and set of spare axles) will do just fine:)

To each his own;P

Give it a rest? Good luck. These topics have an unknown shelf life and I
don't quite think this one has expired yet....

These are the joys of participating in a public forum. This is a chance
for everyone to get on the soapbox and voice their opinion. Like it or
not its going to happen. Try to be tolerant of others opinions & use the
delete key effectively and you just might still be here next year. ;)

Guys and Gals:

Can we give it a rest?, lighten up people this topic is getting way
to old and tired. I don't mean to preach but aren't we guarantied by
our constitution to "the pursuit of happiness". Now for some people
happiness might be a house in the suburbs, 2.5 kids and a 4x4 Ford
Excursion with a V10 they only use to haul groceries for two miles,
for others it might be a Hybrid vehicle that gets "umpteen" miles to
the gallon, taking the bus to work because they help the environment,
etc. It doesn't matter, people in this country are supposed to be
free, and that means that as long as you don't break the law, you can
do what ever you want. Not everyone needs to like or agree with what
other people do, but they do need to respect them, as I'm sure we
want to be respected. I read a few posts back that people were
assholes because they purchased Fords, fine I'm sure that person has
reasons for feeling that way about Fords and will most likely never
buy one himself, buy does that make a few hundre d thousand people
assholes?, I don't think so. What I personally think a Ford, GM,
Chrysler, or any make is MY opinion, I'm neither right or wrong,
I have my point of view, that probably comes from personal
experience, and that's it, nothing more nothing less.

Anyway, all I'm trying to say is don't get all bent out of shape
trying to prove you are right, just accept that people are entitled
to their opinion, and have the right to be idiots if the so choose,
as long as they don't hurt other people and/or property, why care
about it?.

My two cents.

Jose

See, I can be opinionated too. Just dont forget the truss when you do the Super 35, then you will have 1600 + bucks into an axle that you cant get spares for(until you brake one) have fun getting home though.

My $1200 8.8 (including disks, detroit, gears etc. and set of spare axles) will do just fine:)

To each his own;P

What a bunch of crap. There have been ice ages and warmings throughout
the history of the earth. Regardless of whether or not mankind was here
they will continue to occur. We may be causing this or it may be a
natural occurance. Maybe we are even slowing down the next ice age from
occuring? Who's to really know? Scientists don't even know. Do you think
a hundred years of modern science can even begin to understand what has
happened over billions of years?

Theresa and I visited a dinosaur dig in Wyoming last year. What is now
harsh desert type terrain was once a lush rain forest full of dinosaurs.
The current climate in that part of Wyoming could never support such
life. Who knows what the climate of Wyoming will be in 1 billion years.
The Arizona desert hasn't always been this hot either. I think these
people need to go back and take some more science classes.

I talked to some GreenPeace folks at the entrance to Tempe Library the
other day. They were very nice people and they drove their cars to
Tempe to hand out their pamphlets.

No, what will really happen in the end is we will keep
burning hydrocarbon fuels and heating up the environment
until a major earth-changing event like a catastrophic
melt of the polar ice caps and possible shift in earth's rotational axis
occurs. Then I suppose we shall have learned a lesson. =) But even
so, I think life, and humans in particular, will find a way.

But scott if I were to take these science classes then how would I
push my completely ignorant view of how the world works. If I were
to try and understand that life on this planet is a cycle and that we
humans are apart of it then I might have to come up with my own
opinion and would not have to follow along like the donkey that I am
carrying other peoples opinions to the masses:-p
Even with a basic class on geology I would understand that the forces
at work for a major enviromental catastrophie (ie
earthquake, flood, polar caps melting) do not happen overnight and even
when they do it is generally in an isolated area of a continent.
Envirocrap plain and simple.

If you look at the big cities, and all the people that are in them, it is possible to move them all to Texas and still have the rest of the world, is this space reserved for the green criers? I could then understand the phrase "Texas is over populated"

I, like all of you, like to jeep and there is a lot more land than they would like to admit that does not have power, water, cable or phones and yet they think it was meant for them. Here is a question, How did they get themselves and all their gear into those remote locations? God did not beam them there. They are more than happy to drive their SUV out to the areas that they don't want SUV recreationalist to drive. Or am I wrong?

Birth, live, die, it's nature and the only things in this world that do not live by this natures rule is man. Between live and die, we pay taxes. What are they trying to stop from happening, birth? Live? Or die? If anything they should work on taking out taxes in the equation.

Sorry guys the World IS NOT over-populated. If you believe that, then
you are buying into an "environmentalist" movement so EXTREME that it
wants to see the world population reduced to less than 500 Million - OR
- to put it another way, they want to ELIMINATE (exterminate?) more than
5.7 BILLION people. "The world is over-populated" movement came from
wacko-eco-nazi-extremist and has been proven to be false time and time
again.

If you take everyone in the world and divide up the State of Texas,
every person on earth (including babies only a few months old) would get
just under 1200 sq ft. I think the average family size world-wide is
about 4 children per household.. which means family units that average 6
people. That is 7200 sq feet per family. That is 1/3rd LARGER than the
property my house sits on. Properly configured, my house could easily
handle a family of about 10.

Another way to look at it, if you CROWDED everyone together, averaging 4
people per square yard. (Each person gets a 18" x 18" square, on
average; remember that this includes infants, toddlers and children)
They would fill just under 500 square miles. For comparison, the Phoenix
Urbanized Area in 1990 was 741 square miles. So if you leveled the
Phoenix area, you could put the entire population of the world in less
than 2/3rds of it.

And don't start about there not being enough land to grow the food to
feed everyone either. When our own Government pays farmers NOT to grow
food, and when vast ancient farms in the former Soviet Union remain
un-plowed and un-planted, and when UN satellites are used in some
countries to make sure farmers don't plow and plant in "unauthorized"
fields. The UN is using this so called "over-population" movement to

Damn "scientist" can't even get the age of the earth right.

In the late 1700's the earth (according to popular scientific belief) was
77000 years old.
By the 1900's it was 2 Billion years old.
In 1963, it was 3.5 Billion years old.
2002 textbooks have the earth listed as 4.6 Billion years old...

Dang, leave it to the "scientists" and the earth grows old at the rate of 40
years per minute...

The Earth is not Billions of years old... its not even Millions of years
old. And don't start about radiological dating (C14, Potasium/Argon,
etc...) Everytime a test is done against a KNOWN test subject, the dates
are way, way off. Yet they want you to trust the dates they come up with
against Unknown test subjects. Ash from the Mt. St Helen's eruption tested
revealed that Mt. St Helens erupted almost 1 million years ago.. Ya know I
remember that happening when I was a kid. So either I'm over a million years
old - OR - radiological dating doesn't work.

If you're interested, I have a set of Tapes that goes into the Age of the
Earth, Dinosaurs and various other topics.

A little enviroment humor to lighten up all the tension in here:
(Being from the Northeast I find this rather amusing)

The following Eight Point Manifesto has been developed by the
environmentalists of New Jersey to help maintain the quality of life
herein the Garden Apartment State. Due to our constant vigilance and
deepconcern, we no longer have problems like the endangerment of the
SpottedOwl and the Salmon. In fact, we don't have any birds or fish
to give usproblems at all. New residents should memorize this
Manifesto and put it into practice in their daily lives.

1. Litter: The New Jersey Environmentalist throws it out his car
window, whereupon it becomes someone else's problem.
(And who cares about them, anyway?) After all, you'd
have to _walk_ (EECH!) to get to a trash can.

2. Open Space: Found inside malls. The really big ones, of course.
Building malls is a good way to conserve space that
would otherwise go to waste in some useless woods or
farm.

3. Fresh Air: Comes from central air conditioning. Best if kept at
64 degrees F or below. It's normal to wear sweaters in
the middle of a heat wave. The New Jersey
Environmentalist keeps all windows tightly closed at
all times, so that the Fresh Air is not contaminated
by anything from The Outdoors (see below.)

4. The Outdoors:
This is the space you have to _walk_ through (EECH!)
to get from the air-conditioned buildings to the
air-conditioned car. That is, unless the car is in an
air-conditioned parking deck. The true New Jersey
Environmentalist supports the latter, because then
he's always inside in the Fresh Air.

5. Plants: The New Jersey Environmentalist realizes the need for
plants. Plants have two uses, depending on their size.
The little ones are useful for spraying with ChemLawn.
(Make sure your children stay inside in the Fresh Air
after you have done this.) The big ones (i.e. trees)
should be cut down to make room for more strip malls,
to conserve Open Space.

6. Energy: The New Jersey Environmentalist conserves his energy
by driving everywhere he has to go, and many places he
doesn't. Otherwise, he'd have to _walk_ (EECH!) to get
places. It's dangerous walking in The Outdoors,
because there are so many cars there. The bigger your
car is, the better, because there's more Open Space
and Fresh Air inside.

7. Recycling: Why bother? Nobody else does. New Jersey residents
don't want a bottle bill, because it would
inconvenience everybody and result in over six layoffs
in the bottle industry around Glassboro. The NewJersey
Environmentalist recycles his garbage, old tires, and
dead refrigerators by converting them into Litter (see
above).

8. Wetlands: This usually means the Shore, where they've gotten rid
of a lot of yucky marshes to build beautiful condos
and strip malls. Every Friday, the New Jersey
Environmentalist joins the traffic jam on the way to
the Shore, so that he can have more time in the Fresh
Air inside his car. He does the same thing on Sunday,
but this time in the opposite direction. Once at the
Shore, the New Jersey Environmentalist NEVER goes
Outdoors, since the Freon from the air conditionershas
destroyed the ozone layer and he'd get skin cancer.
If you must go outside, remember that the proper way to
enjoy the environment is to do so on one square yard
of sand, along with half a million other New Jersey
Environmentalists and their boom boxes. Watch out for
the syringes, and maybe you can collect a few New
Jersey Beach Whistles (Discarded tampon applicators).
