Not if it's out of warrenty. Just getting them to agree that 6" of

do it when your out of warrenty! I had 30,500 miles on mine and

There are only so many codes for these locks. That is very possible,
but very lucky to find the same code on two different Jeeps. There

Darin, here is an excerpt from tom Woods Website. There is quite a bit of info there http://www.4xshaft.com/ . I just went thought the same thing as you and ended up with a Tom Wood's CV Shaft. Tom reiterates most of what Randy is trying to explain to you except he thinks the CV shaft is actually stronger. I really don't know for sure, but they are very knowledgeable and professional. Hope this helps.
Shaft Selection: A or B?
With a conventional two joint drive shaft you need to keep the out-put of the transfer case & the pinion parallel within 1 degree, and in relationship to either the drive shaft should be running at absolutely no greater than 15 degrees ( this is a pushed limit).
If you can not fall within this parameter, then you will want to pitch the differential so that the pinion points directly at the out-put of the transfer case (maintaining 3 degrees or less joint angle at the differential end) & run a double cardan (C.V.) drive shaft.
The latter option will require changing the rear out-put yoke ($60 to $90) on the transfer case to one that is compatible with both the t-case & of course the drive shaft. In order to properly supply the correct yoke you may need to disconnect the drive shaft at the transfer case end, remove the nut & washer that hold on this yoke to count the splines. You will have either 10 or 26. The model 18 t-case will have 10 splines. The model 20 will have either 10 or 26. The model 300 will have 26 splines. Other transfer cases will require a different yoke.
We will also need to know the length required for the drive shaft face of yoke to face of yoke or what would be center of joint to center of joint. And if you have something other than the standard differential joint size I.e. Ford 9" etc. (Check out our measuring guide in step three of our quote page)
For the drive basic Jeep shaft itself, we have two different options available, depending on what you want/need in regards to cost and features. Both shafts will be built brand new, complete with joints & balanced. A drive shaft built from all premium quality Spicer components is $265. I have no concerns with this shaft in regards to a strength issue. Or our top of the line shaft, built with all premium quality components and the long travel, full length booted slip & spline is $295. For long term dollar spent, I consider the latter to be the best value.
If you determine that the conventional two joint shaft will work well for you, we have two options available. For the typical Jeep application, a upgraded heavy wall tube larger/stronger slip yoke & spline stub @ $185 or the top of the line shaft with the long travel booted slip & spline for $210. One of these shafts would also work fine in if used in an application with a shackle reversal, automatic transmission and revolver shackles. Call us with your specific requirements. The drive shaft cost may range from $210 to $525.
If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to call me @ 1-877-497-4238.

Thanks for the info. I have dropped my T-case already (1"), but it didn't get me anywhere. I guess the pinion angle or the CV is all that is left.
I have read about the AZ driveline CV shaft. Any input on that??? I definitely wouldn't have the expertise to start cutting up my driveline.

Subject: [az_vjc] Driveline advice
Hello to all,
I am back online again, after a move to Tucson from Mesa.
I have a few questions regarding the CV shafts and possible SYE kits. I have seen all the emails that have been sent discussing pros and cons of trail use, strength, etc. I have a lift on my 3" SkyJacker lift on my XJ and I have recently (now that I have to drive freeway to work) that I get a driveline vibe when I drive to work (above 55 MPH). It is only during accel that it does it.
[Siade, Randy] It does this because your U-joints are not at matching opposite angles. When they are not you will get vibration on accel, deccel or both.
I have read some of the posts (when I don't have 920 of them) and I have came across a few about pinion angle. Well, I looked under my jeep and the input of the rearend and the driveshaft are a straight line. There is a shim that is bolted into the spring pack making it sit at that angle. So, according to what I have read it must be set to accept a CV shaft and SYE?
The Big Questions:
1. Is it worth trying to remove the shim and set the pinion angles? Or should I move to a CV shaft and SYE?
[Siade, Randy] Setting your U-joint angels would be the most cost effective and leave you with the strongest drive line. First thing to do is if you do not have you cross member dropped then drop it about 1 to 1.5". Then with an angle finder (you can get them from harbor freight for $5) measure your U-joint angel coming form the transfer case. Then cut the welds at your spring perches and rotate your pinion so it is at the same but opposite angel. In other words if the t-case yoke points down 5 deg then point the diff yoke up 5 deg. Weld the perches back on and your done.
2. This is no longer a trail beater, I have to drive it at high speeds daily. So, what would be the most "cost effective" fix?
3. Does anyone make a cv shaft that can be adapter to the Xfer case without having to purhase the SYE?
Thanks in advance.
PS - Any good 4X4 shops in Tucson?
Have a good weekend!

Darin,
As Randy & I have said, you need to set your pinion angle for a
driveline to work correctly.
If you insist on shelling out some cash for a CV shaft go ahead and
get one, but you still might have the vibes if you don't set your
pinion angle. IMO I don't see any reason for an XJ with 3" of lift to
have a CV shaft. Your drivelines are longer than mine and I didn't
have to get a CV shaft until I went over 3".

There are only so many codes for these locks. That is very possible,
but very lucky to find the same code on two different Jeeps. There

Subject: Re: Driveline advice
