Like new (used but functionally perfect).

Would trade for a full center console for a TJ (black or grey).

He'll give you the best deal in town. He works for Discount tire.
Not sure which one though, ask the list, they'll know.

I'm fairly new to this group, so please tell me why I
should check with Rick Beer. Does he run a tire shop
or an off-road store or have other connections?

Good tires aren't cheap, so before I make the
purchase, I want to make sure all bases are covered.
I'm anal about stuff like that. At the rate I'm going
on this tire thing, I'll run the tread off my tires
before making a decision! :)

Thanks for the advice, but please provide more detail.

Rick Beer works at Discount Tire. To say that he has made a couple
hundred club members very happy with good deals and great service would
be an understatement. Sorry to hear that you are anal....but you will
fit in well with some of the folks in the group because several of them
always seem to be there! LOL ;>)

Rick will hook you up with a good set of tires for sure. I've
recommended him to friends and they've been as satisfied with him as I
have.

Yeap. Rick is our club tire sales man or something like that. He has
gotten nothing but praises from members that have used his services. He
works at Discount Tires and some members will travel many many miles for
the great deals and service he provides. My self included. I am sure
someone will let you know which store he is working at this month.

If it has 12 bolts on it then it is not a dana spicer axle, they have 10 bolts. You should have a chrysler 9.25.

Last night while I was at REI, something happened to my jeep. I went
inside to look around for a tent and was inside for about 20 minutes.
when I came out, I noticed that somebody attempted to take off my
AZVJC stickers, well, at least the drivers side one. but the right
side, as with the left side was written on with a black felt marker
and scratched off with a paper clip that they dropped. a witness said
that is was a man and woman both looking like they're in late 30's
early 40's. they drove off in a new Saturn SUV, the color, unknown.
anyway, I fixed the damage that was minimal, and now I'm looking for
some new stickers, again. without using the Internet, where can i
pick a couple up?

Hi Gang,

I received my updated Currie TJ steering setup today (thanks again to 4
wheeler's supply for taking care of this issue when they really didn't
have
to) and while the tie rod looks the same on both the old style Currie
steering setup and the latest version; the drag link on the newer
version is incredible. In some places, the new drag link is nearly
twice the diameter as the old one. All in all, I'm happy Currie finally
finished the redesign and I'm extremely happy that four wheeler's supply
took care of their customer... thanks again to Barry and Bryan for
dealing with Currie so I didn't have to (too much anyway) <grin>.

The install took about 20 minutes... and another 20 minutes to adjust
toe-in and centering the steering wheel.

If you got lockers and stuff you need a steering brace. They are cheap
insurance (under $50 I think). I've had mine on since the first year.

James,

That is certainly a good question. At a minimum, a steering brace is in
order (which I do not have on mine yet). A friend of mine from Florida
was running JV back in April. He managed to rip the entire steering box
off the frame (twice) before calling it quits. He ended up getting one
of the rock ram setups on his TJ. He was pushing big old 38.5" Swampers
around in those rocks.

Scott,

After looking at the pictures of my instrument cluster on Jeeps Unlimited
that someone doctored up with those black faced gauges... I was amazed at
how good they looked... it almost made me wish I had used the black ones you
like; boy do they look sweet. Wonder how expensive they are though? They
look like they might be the top of the line VDO stuff...

LOL...

Scott and I talked last night, and I think it became a non FLUFF mod when
Scott realized how bad the factory computer filters the readings that you
see on your TJ gauges... Last year Scott had some cooling problems where his
temp gauge would go from normal and then suddenly jump to the upper peg but
he never had any boil over... he didn't know what was wrong and it was
difficult to troubleshoot... back then we didn't know that the gauge
readings were computer controlled or filtered, now we know better.

And yes... we could paint his instrument backing plate purple or even flat
tan to match his jeep's color. Chris Krieg actually pointed this idea out
to me and I think with a little paintshop pro manipulations, you could play
with a great deal of colors to see what you like...

I guess if I think about it, changing gauges is really more of a personal
thing than a necessity... it was fun to do and I learned a great deal about
how the factory setup works... when I started the mod, I thought it was 100%
fluff... now I think it is only 50% fluff... <laugh>
