Hi Matt,
Since the front track bar bolt is off, go ahead
and see how you feel about driving it this way.
(with the whole bar removed)
My 94YJ has quick disconnects on the sway bar,
and a telescoping front track bar all of which
are disconnected! I like driving the YJ with out
them. I even pulled a small trailer from Tucson
to Sedona and back and like it MUCH better with
out the track bar and sway bar. So try it for your
self. It takes an hour or so to get used to it.
You may even like it better.
When you go spring over, you will probably need
or want one.
For TJs it's a whole
different animal as they have the coil suspension.
Just my two cents! Good luck and let us know
what you think.

Yes, is everyone aware that 7/9 is a FRIDAY? Do you mean 7/10??
If this date interferes w/ another ride, we might want to consider the 4th of
July weekend. I was there last 4th of July and it is not too crowded. The
place is huge and it's a lot of fun with some more vehicles around.
Specially fun to watch the Nitro charged rigs try to make it to the top of
those cinder "dunes" and then turn around. Something you really have to see
(and hear) to believe. I would recommend the 4th of July weekend just for
that reason.
Someone, please let us all know about Friday? 7/9?

I am running a 3.5" lift (R E), on my XJ and am currently
using 30x9.5's and could use a little more ground
clearance. 31x10.5's tend to hit the inner fenders during
hard turning, the width is the problem. Super swamper makes
a 32x9.5 to me it appears to be the perfect XJ tire. Does
anyone have any thoughts before I buy the tires?

I haven't heard of anyone running any 32" tire with only 3.5" lift on an XJ
without fender trimming and flare removal. I would hate to see you buy $700+
tires for your XJ that you can't use. I'm wondering if the 32x9.5s will clear
the fenders. What backspacing are you going to run? If you run stock rims
(5.25") the 10.5s will rub on the lower control arms. If you run 4.5"
backspacing they will not rub at all. If you run 3.75" you'll trash your
fenders and flares. I don't know about the 9.5s though ...
Another thought about the super swampers - they are very agressive, and if
they touch the flares or fenders the sheet metal won't last very long.
You might get some better feedback if you post your question on our XJ forum
(xj.jeep.org) because this is a common question that gets asked.
Hope this helped,
Jeff

Hello Brian,
My name is Keith Orr, I live in Safford, and I am a new member of
AZ_VJC. I drive an 87 XJ and the lift was 3.5 before last month, then I
added 2" blocks in the rear, 1.75 Tera Flex coil spacers in the front. But
before the extra lift , my 31x10.50's also rubbed when I turned. I bought
new wheels(15x8 Outlaw I ), and they set the tires out a little farther and
eliminated the problem. As of the tires you spoke of , I have had no
experience with them, or know of know one that runs them, but you can't
hardly go wrong with Super Swamper, if they don't rub.
By the way, are you the Brian that I spoke to about with Dave O'boyle.
Are you going to Silverton CO. to FF 99? The Brian we were talking about is
possibly a friend of Charles Stein. He is also going to the "FF 99", as well
as Dave, and myself. If you are going let us know, Dave and I are going to

The 9.5's on the stock rims work great and I don't
Believe tht the 32" will be a problem in diameter, I
tried some bfg's 33x9.5's and the hit just a bit on the rear
body seams I never tried them on the front. All the articles
that I have seen only talk about 11.5's or 12.5's .
The buckshot mudder also comes in thais size.

Hey Keith,
thanks for the input! My XJ is an 88. The Rubicon system
comes with new lower arms and the 10.5" are not supposed
to hit on the arms with the stock rims on the 9.5's I used
to run hit on the stock arms at full steering lock
Unfortunately Im not the Brian you had talked to, the trip
sounds great.....but Im a slave to my work this time of
year. I build houses.
thanks

The Brian you're referring to was driving a white '90 XJ when we ran Trail42 a few weeks back. Actually, he, myself, and Charles Stein are planning on doing the Colorado trip end of next month. Just a bunch of XJers looking for a good time. Brian and I wheel quite a bit, and now that we've gotten hooked up with the AZVJC, we've been meeting a bunch more XJers here in the Phx area.
We should talk (or email) offline sometime if you're interested.

I'm not an A/C expert, but I can give some info that may be helpful. The
most common A/C problem is a leak somewhere in the system, and a leak in the
part you described is common. If the diagnosis was with a dye in the
refrigerant, it should be a trustworthy conclusion and you should replace
that part to repair the system. There is no way that I know of to avoid that
from happening, sometimes parts just fail. If there is no leak in the
system, a charge of freon should last indefinitely. Dye should always be
added when a recharge is required to allow a leak to be found at a future
date if the charge is not held by the system. BTY, the refrigerant heats up
as it is compressed by the compressor and air bleeds off some of the heat.
Then the refrigerant goes through the evaporator where it expands and gets
cold and air is passed over it to cool the vehicle and then it goes back to
the compressor to start over again.

It is a simple matter to reduce the turning radius on the wheels to keep
the 31's from hitting the lower control arms. On each stearing Knuckle
there is an adjustment bolt that is used to set the maximum turn of the
steering. Adjust it out until the 31's don't hit the arms. Your
truning radius for the vechile will be reduced slightly; however, it was
reduced by the fact you hit the arms anyway.

Hi Matt,
Since the front track bar bolt is off, go ahead
and see how you feel about driving it this way.
(with the whole bar removed)
My 94YJ has quick disconnects on the sway bar,
and a telescoping front track bar all of which
are disconnected! I like driving the YJ with out
them. I even pulled a small trailer from Tucson
to Sedona and back and like it MUCH better with
out the track bar and sway bar. So try it for your
self. It takes an hour or so to get used to it.
You may even like it better.
When you go spring over, you will probably need
or want one.
For TJs it's a whole
different animal as they have the coil suspension.
Just my two cents! Good luck and let us know
what you think.

If you are going let us know, Dave and I are going to
try to meet up somewhere to convoy to CO. You are welcome to follow
along-The more the merrier! Like Dave said , it would be great to see a pack
of AZ Xjer's pulling into Silverton CO.
Hope the information helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brian,
the wife has an 88 XJ. 4 inch Procomp lift, running 15x8 American rims, and
31x10.5's it munches the fender wells in the rear, and sometimes hits in the
front. The rears hit about an inch into the tire at least. For her's more
lift is needed.....looking at one more inch if we can...

Hey Keith,
thanks for the input! My XJ is an 88. The Rubicon system
comes with new lower arms and the 10.5" are not supposed
to hit on the arms with the stock rims on the 9.5's I used
to run hit on the stock arms at full steering lock
Unfortunately Im not the Brian you had talked to, the trip
sounds great.....but Im a slave to my work this time of
year. I build houses.
thanks

before the extra lift , my 31x10.50's also rubbed when I turned. I bought
new wheels(15x8 Outlaw I ), and they set the tires out a little farther and
eliminated the problem.
If you are going let us know, Dave and I are going to
try to meet up somewhere to convoy to CO. You are welcome to follow
along-The more the merrier! Like Dave said , it would be great to see a pack
of AZ Xjer's pulling into Silverton CO.
Hope the information helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Later,

hard turning, the width is the problem. Super swamper makes

anyone have any thoughts before I buy the tires?

This came off the Xjlist thought it might be usefull
