Like this?
This pic was taken with all the lights off. They sure reflect back a lot
of the camera flash. I wouldn't want to park my Jeep on a dark street
without those reflectors.

Make sure you get the kind with the reflective ring on them. Unless you
plan on adding some red reflective tape to the rear of your Jeep.

I'm assuming most late model vehicles are similarly filtered.

Hi Stu,
It's nice to have someone admit what we already knew... and while I
completely understand their reasoning for filtering the information
which goes to our gauges; there are a few of us who push their rigs to
the point where filtered information isn't good enough. Customers don't
like fuel gauges which move when you turn a corner, so the factory
programs the computer to ignore fluctuations in fuel level signals which
are of short duration... unfortunately, there are a few discriminating
TJ owners out here who NEED to know what the unfiltered data is... and
short of reprogramming the factory computer to take out the filtering
windows... we are screwed unless we replace the gauges.
I originally replaced my gauges because I wanted a different look in my
flat fender TJ... once I replaced them and discovered how "dynamic"
things really are when you aren't viewing the world through the filter
of a computer; I'd never even consider going back to the factory
setup... no way... no how.
Back when I replaced my gauges... I didn't know that the instruments
were computer controlled... I didn't know that the data to the
instruments was filtered... but after replacing the gauges it became
clear that DC engineers HEAVILY filter the data that we see on our
computer controlled instruments <sigh>. Once again, an automotive
manufacturer decides to save us from ourselves.
Thanks again for the confirmation of our suspicions...

Gosh... you're right Scott... we wouldn't want to have "unattractive"
tail lights on our Jeeps. <grin> although I'd choose another descriptive

Hey... would you find the NAPA lights more "attractive" if I painted

Subject: WJ speedo and trans questions
A WJ owner in South Africa asked if I could pass along the following
questions:
01. Does anyone know for certain if the speedometer adjustment is the same
for a WJ (2002) as it is for the older models, i.e, changing the speedo gear
in the T-case? Any websites with the specs on this?
02. Any info on the transmission shift controller? The aim is to insert a
hold function for a certain gear.
Any help would be appreciated.

that the tires would make such a rumble... but thats all it was.
So check the tires :D

This skid plate is used but in excellent condition. No dents or dings. I will e-mail pics upon request. I sold the ZJ, so cannot use it anymore and am hoping perhaps someone else can get some trail-use out of it. If interested, please call or write and I will gladly answer any questions!

from a '79 please let me know. The cab is going to be the last part of the

I ran a K&N panel filter in my XJ for a while, but after "getting smart"
about filters, airflow, etc, I won't run another on any vehicle. First,
the
results of using the K&N:
http://www.extremejeep.com/~hogan/images/intake-tube.jpg
Second, why the K&N is bunk. If you figure out how much airflow your
engine
can pull at redline and WOT you can figure out if a K&N will offer any
improvement. For example, let's say the 4.0 can pull a max of 380cfm, a
paper filter can pass 450cfm, and a K&N can pass 600cfm...the K&N will
offer
no improvement. You're not even reaching the limits of the paper filter,
so
the fact that the K&N can flow more air means nothing. This is backed up
by
tests done on a Dodge/Cummins, a dyno, and using stock and K&N filters.
The
dyno showed no increase in HP or torque compared to the OEM filter. Also,
the airbox has a "filterminder" which shows the max vacuum in the intake
side of the filter, there was no change in vacuum (restriction) when using
the K&N compared to the OEM filter.
Is that to say the K&N CAN'T offer an improvement? Of course not, if you
have a built-up, high performance V8 that is capable of pulling massive CFM
then the stock filter can pose a problem with airflow, but on a bone stock
engine there's no reason to run a K&N.
Lastly, excessive cleaning of your K&N will cause it to break down and
filter poorly. The filter efficiency of K&Ns goes up as it gets dirty, so
by cleaning it after every dusty run you're actually causing more harm than
good, both to your engine and the filter.

4 months without a Jeep is way too long!!!!
It's an 89 YJ. (I know. But, I'll have round headlights in it before
long & make it "look" like a real Jeep)
Its setup with:
Chevy 350, 350 Tranny, NP-231w/SYE & Tom Woods CV shaft.
SOA with 2.5 spings, D-44's front & rear with 4:10's & Detroits,
Flat top knuckles, High clearance steering & 35" BFG MTs
My plans for the summer are;
Body & Fender work with the sazall & die grinder
Paint?? (the color sucks now)
37" MTR's
Custom cage, rocker guards, ect.
Re-do the steering with Heims & 1.25 DOM.
MORE Shackle Reversal
Tera-Lo & 2-Lo for the 231 (I'd like to flip a D-300 but thats
another $600 adapter)
I'm sure I'll have wiring, cooling, & a million other issues too. My
plans are to have it at least trail worthy by summers end.
I'm gonna try (I said try) not to make this one too pretty that I'm
aafraid to wheel it hard like my last Jeep.
I'll have pic's as soon as it arrives next week.

Hi Stu,
It's nice to have someone admit what we already knew... and while I
completely understand their reasoning for filtering the information
which goes to our gauges; there are a few of us who push their rigs to
the point where filtered information isn't good enough.

<grin> although I'd choose another descriptive
word for the NAPA lights... "Manly".
Hey... would you find the NAPA lights more "attractive" if I painted
them purple???

Subject: WJ speedo and trans questions
A WJ owner in South Africa asked if I could pass along the following
questions:
01. Does anyone know for certain if the speedometer adjustment is the same
for a WJ (2002) as it is for the older models, i.e, changing the speedo gear
in the T-case? Any websites with the specs on this?
02. Any info on the transmission shift controller? The aim is to insert a
hold function for a certain gear.
Any help would be appreciated.

shot and after getting new tires it went away. I remember doubting
that the tires would make such a rumble... but thats all it was.
So check the tires :D

Great to hear about people that will admit their mistakes and make good.
Glad you got it worked out.

A supplier accidentally sent me two TJ instrument clusters when I only
needed one... I can send the extra one back or I can simply sell it to
someone in the group if anyone wants one or needs a spare and send the money
to the supplier. These Instrument clusters run about $800 or so from a
dealer new and this used one is $185. If you are interested, send me a
private email.

Does anyone know the part number for an output shaft seal for a DANA 300. I have four of them in my hand from Napa and checker and they are all wrong. Napa did not even list the Dana 300 in a 85 CJ-7. Thanks in advance.

Subject: New Project is on the way!!!!!
My plans for the summer are;
Body & Fender work with the sazall & die grinder
