I agree with Doug. Next week is too short of notice. I'm for going on 7/9.

Is anyone planning to go on this trip? The proposed date is Fri 6/25. An
alternate date would be 7/9.

-------------------
I highly recommend camping at Lockett Meadow if we go wheeling at the
Cinders. This is a great place at the foot of the Inner Basin, very close to
the Cinders, in a scenic Aspen forest, at about 8500 feet.

The camping is considered primitive, with no facilities, although there is
one outhouse near the hiking trailhead. The Trailhead leads into the Inner
Basin and offers some great hiking. You can even connect to the Weatherford
Trail which will get you to the summit of Mt. Humphrey's.

I would recommend a trip the week before or the week after 4th of July to
avoid the crowds (6/25 or 7/9). Some of us could go on Friday afternoon to
pick a camp site. The camp sites are large enough for a good crowd. The best
camp sites are near the trailhead (and the outhouse). The weather will be
cool and nice.

I might be inclined to hike to the summit one day and go wheeling another
day. I tried to reach the summit last year about this time, but late snows
left the trails impassible above 10,000 feet without the right equipment.
'Course it was fun being waist deep in snow in June.

Any takers?

I know it's not east valley, but Driveline Service of Arizona (on Washington

driveshafts. I had a custom driveshaft built for my XJ from them ... quick
and very good quality.

Depends on what you have. If it's a TJ (or any other coiled vehicle), you must keep the track bar, since coil springs have no real lateral strength. If you have a YJ, some disconnect or remove the rear, some also the front. I understand you can get a telescoping track bar that allows you to easily disconnect. On the road, it's probably best to keep it connected. I believe the CJ5's didn't have track bars (not sure about the 7's)
