Hi everyone....
Im posting this for Mrs. AZG23. My wife as some of you know is a Type 1 diabetic. She has lived with this disease since the age of 11. Her younger brother Brett aslo has Type 1, so its close to her heart. She was greatly impressed by the support of the AZVJC with Danno's 3 day walk...and also when she was getting worried about me out wheelin' in FJ, and the way this group pulls together.
She has set out to walk in this years Juvenile Diabetes Foundation "walk for the cure" at Tempe Town lake. It is a 5k walk, to raise money towards research for a cure. This walk is on November 3rd, 2007. She has asked some of her family to walk in it with her, (me included!) and has built a team called "The Flying Dutchmen"....(Dutch Ancestors) We have set a goal of $500 and would love to blow this amount out of the park! She is sending this out to friends and family to help support her in this endeavor.
We have also enlisted the help of Matt (Beardman3 who makes the AZVJC shirts on here) to make us some shirts for the walk. We are going to put the link to the site on the back also as a supporter along with the logo.
Please take a minute to check out the page Mrs.AZG23 put together, and if you feel so inclined, pitch in with a donation. The link is here:

Thank you from our family!!

I would definitely be interested in walking. This is a cause that is close to my heart, I have 2 cousins who are Type 1 Diabetics. I try and support them in the walks they do back East as well.

Good Luck Shauri, my cousin, Patrick Tracy was also diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes when he was just 2 years old. He is now in his 20s and has been very successful at managing his diabetes. The technology that they have now is just amazing.

Mrs. AZG23's " Walk to cure Diabetes" 2007
As most of you know me (Dustin) :D I'm always willing to give a extra hand when it comes to helping. I figured out a way to help Mrs. AZG23 and others on this site. I will be doing a drawing starting now for every $20.00 donation made towards The Flying Dutchmen for the Juvenille Diabetes Foundation "Walk For The Cure", your name will be entered in the drawing for a Custom Front Rock Crawling Bumper! This bumper is very similar to the ones I have been selling on here to others. This bumper is 2"x6"x42", two 5/8" thick clevis tabs with a 1" hole for 7/8" pin. This bumper comes with heavy duty light tabs for off road lights, tappered on both ends, fully welded, painted and installed by me. This front bumper is only for TJ,YJ, AND CJ Wranglers, if you win this bumper and do not own either one of the wranglers I listed before, you may sell or trade this bumper with whoever you want too, do what you please with it. Please remember, your name will only be added to the drawing if you donated $20.00 to The Flying Dutchmen team followed by the link below!!:D
http://walk.jdrf.org/walker.cfm?id=86816787
The more you donate the better chances you have winning the drawing. If you would like to be part of this great donation/drawing please fill out the form. We want to make sure we know exactly who to enter into the drawing...please put your name...and screen name in the comments section. Once you have completely filled out the form, please pm me with the amount you have donated so I know how many times you will be added to the drawing. The drawing will take place after Nov. 3 2007, I will plan a run for stock/lifted Jeeps for everyone to attend. The location of the run will be determine, along with the drawing and the drawing will take place with the run. The winner then will get info from me in order to recieve his Custom Rock Crawlin Front Bumper. Any questions with this drawing feel free to pm me! Thanks!!
Also if you already have donated $20.00 or over please pm me so I can add your name to the drawing!! :)
***If your the winner of this drawing and you already have a front bumper, im sure we can work something out for a rear rock crawlin bumper!!***

Happy to help out. Up until July 9th of this year I myself was type1 diabetic. 33 years since the age of 7. Took its toll on my kidneys, was on peritoneal dialysis for over a year and was on the transplant list. Decided to go for a kidney and a pancrease since I didnt have a living donor available for a kidney. Its been a little over 2 months since my operation and Ive been doing great, wheeling every chance I get. Have to go back to work in a few weeks. This is a very worth while cause, just thought I would share my story also.:D

I just saw this thread and wanted to help also. I will give some cash for this cause. Since Dustin is a JK hater, if i win bumper Dustin can place in a Geocache site for recycle gift.
Mr and Mrs AZG23,
I added you link to my sig. I will be donating to the organization via my Girlfriends daughter. She is Type1 and 15 years old. It's a constant struggle but we are teaming up to combat the Diabetes as a family. I think you both are doing a wonderful thing with getting the club involved. Thank you!
See you all at the walk!!
Dave
well, I guess one of the mods decided it wasn't appropriate and took the link out of my sig.. :(

Thanks Dave....see ya there. Is she on shots or a pump..?? If shots..have her check into an insulin pump. Since Mrs.AZG23 has been on hers, her rollercoaster of up's and down's have virtually gone away. Plus it allows her to eat anytime...
Mrs.AZG23 can attest to how hard it is being a kid and having it..and the denial can be hard on your body by not wanting to accept it.

The day has arrived...and we are about ready to leave.
Both Mrs. AZG23 and I, wanted to say to everyone that helped out, either by donations, fund raisers, and services that we are so very thankful to your kind support!
We ended up beating the original goal of $500, and raised the bar a bit to $800...and blew that outta the water!! With your help we raised $1,165 towards the cure! WOW!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Hopefully we will get a few pics of the action from Tempe town Lake and can post em up later.

WOW!!! I am truly at a loss for words..............
I don't know what more I can say that we haven't already been said......but I will say it again. From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and every one of you for your generous donations and your kind and encouraging words and thoughts.
Once again, I am truly impressed by how this group comes together and rally's around someone and/or a cause.
A special thanks to Sedona Rick for the generous donation. I was totally surprised this morning when I saw that on my e-mail. Brad and I looked at it right before we left at 5:40 a.m. yesterday and our total was the same. Then when I saw my e-mail this morning that there was another donation, it was like the gift that just keeps giving. Thanks again, Sedona Rick for your donation.
I totally felt good at what my team and I accomplished this year. This was the first year that I got a team together and raised money. I had always 'crashed' my Mom's work teams in the past. It was a bigger feeling of accomplishment to do my own team. I felt so good inside and plan on doing it again next year. To think, I gave my team the small goal (which at the time, I didn't think that it was small) of $500.00 and we actually raised $1225.00 instead. INCREDIBLE!!!!!! I already told my team that we need to try to raise more money next year and get more walkers on board with our team.
A very special special thanks to Shannon for joining our team and walking with us. I was so glad that you were there and I had a blast. Poor Shannon got sucked into talking and talking and talking with my Dad about Boxers. : ) Thanks again Shannon!!! You ROCK!!!!
Thanks again to all of you!!! I will look forward to seeing what The Flying Dutchmen can accomplish next year.
Thanks again!!! You are the BEST!!!!!

Props to Shannon for walking. I would have walked, but all that walking really cuts into my smoking.:o But for some reason I can hike miles up in the country. I think its the fresh air.
Not to change the subject but Shannon, I hope the For Sale on your Jeep sig just means your buying a cooler one. Or were you going to lift and lock the Beemer:D
