Well I guess that would be me or Len... The meeting time will be 7AM for those who want to get an early start on things... Mostly sand play, but a second meeting time will be at 8AM for those of you who just have to hit that Snooze button one more time.
The meeting place is I-10 Exit 114 Miller road. Love's gas station right out front with over flow being on the south side of the parking lot.

I joined the group a couple of weeks ago and have been waiting to hear something about a run near Tucson. I live in Sierra Vista, so anything further than Box Canyon is really too far for me (unless more than a day long). Sounds like everyone is out having a blast, just curious to see if there are any runs planned for the Tucson area?

Hey Matt, you know of any trail that might link Tucson to pheonix?
We are looking for a long trail ride that does just that. Since you are on the south side of the trail, you can always get someone to help you scout north and we should start scouting south... GPS units would help with that somethen we could figure out if we can make a link run from south to north. Wonder if there is an old Stage coach road or something out there?

OK. I'll be there probably by 7. Glad for an earlier start. I have a permit (ASA Member) so that should cover us. BTW, Dan had mentioned earlier the value of joining the state assn, and I second that. Among other things, they work hard to keep trails open for us to enjoy. Membership is not much money, and by being a member, you'll always have a permit. Our address is www.asa4wdc.org/asa4wdc/
Unfortunately, we can't join as a club (AzVJC), since we charge no dues (one of our great benefits of membership!)...but still would encourage those interested to become individual members.

I wondered about that too. I don't think we use the egroup function well in
a couple of areas. We started to use Poll, but that broke down quickly
also. I think of the 2, the calendar function would be the most helpful. On
the other hand, this is a very informal group and maybe both of these take
more organization than most people want. Oh, well. There, I feel better now.

You will fit in perfectly with the Southern
Chapter! the three of us drive YJs too!
We go on runs almost every weekend so just
keep posting and let us know you are interested.
We will try to keep you posted also. We do many
runs around here in Tucson. We also like the
Patagonia and Sonoita areas. Have you been to
China camp? Please tell us something about your
Jeep! Again, welcome, this is a great club and
they are all the nicest people you will ever meet.

Hello Matt, wlcome
ok there is a trail/road that runs fom Buckeye to Mobil I think its about 30 miles long
I have taken it part way on a three wheeler but have not made it all the way to Mobil.
I think that the road is part of the Pipeline but agian I am not sure. I will look into it
further next week. Also there a tons of trails most unexplored by our group, on the south
westside of the Estrella mountians and farther to the south west. The area is called Rainbow Valley
well I will check it out next week and keep you all posted.

I agree. I stay out of the actual eGroup site, and just read the
postings through my Juno account. It seems a whole lot easier, and I
have control over when and where I read, instead of waiting for another
webpage to load. Haven't noticed any IE problems when I have been to
eGroups though, but there could be any number of reasons for that.
FWIW, I've tried to keep a calendar together on my website from info
gathered from the AZVJC postings. You can see it at
http://members.tripod.com/~Yucca_man/azjeep/plans.htm I try to update
it at least once a week, although I believe I'm a little behind right
now. Keep an eye on it.

Subject: Proposed 6/25 Lockett Meadow/Cinders
Is anyone planning to go on this trip? The proposed date is Fri 6/25. An
alternate date would be 7/9.
-- Dan
-------------------
I highly recommend camping at Lockett Meadow if we go wheeling at the
Cinders. This is a great place at the foot of the Inner Basin, very close to
the Cinders, in a scenic Aspen forest, at about 8500 feet.
The camping is considered primitive, with no facilities, although there is
one outhouse near the hiking trailhead. The Trailhead leads into the Inner
Basin and offers some great hiking. You can even connect to the Weatherford
Trail which will get you to the summit of Mt. Humphrey's.
I would recommend a trip the week before or the week after 4th of July to
avoid the crowds (6/25 or 7/9). Some of us could go on Friday afternoon to
pick a camp site. The camp sites are large enough for a good crowd. The best
camp sites are near the trailhead (and the outhouse). The weather will be
cool and nice.
I might be inclined to hike to the summit one day and go wheeling another
day. I tried to reach the summit last year about this time, but late snows
left the trails impassible above 10,000 feet without the right equipment.
'Course it was fun being waist deep in snow in June.
Any takers?

Subject: [az_vjc] Proposed 6/25 Lockett Meadow/Cinders
Any takers?

The meeting place is I-10 Exit 114 Miller road. Love's gas station right out front with over flow being on the south side of the parking lot.

Any takers?

Hello all
I'm headed outside now to check out the J-10 and try to fix the exhaust so
that I can go along tomorrow. If I find something that I can't get fixed
tonight, can I hitch a ride tomorrow with someone? I'll meet everybody at
Love's one way or the other...........you'll know right away if I need a
ride, 'cuz I'll be in the Buick!
Looking forward to tomorrow, even if I'm just a passenger.

Is anyone planning to go on this trip? The proposed date is Fri 6/25. An
alternate date would be 7/9.

Any takers?
