I have done everything I can think of short of getting a torch to heat up the damn thing, which I am on my way to do. I cant get the bearing off no matter what I try.

The hub and everything is off, just got whats left of the inner bearing stuck on the spindle.

I did the passenger side fine, now this is stuck on the drivers side like it is welded on.

Where is Adam when you need him:)

since your not callin..

Heat the inner race ( the part stuck to the spindle )

Make sure to keept he heat on the race as much as possible..

take a good round chisel or punch and place it on the side of the race and then hit the punch with a decent hammer, ( no need for a sludge ) hit it on its side to force it to slightly spin... this will cause it to break loose.

then while it is still hot.. grab a big enough pair of pliers and grab the race from the side, and take the hammer and tap the plies as close to the race as possible... it'll be easier with two people...

if you have a cut off wheel or grinder you can use this method...

use the cut off wheel and slowly and carefully cut the race in the same dirrection of the spindle... from out to in...
DONT CUT ALL THE WAY THROUGH OR YOU CAN DAMAGE THE SPINDLE

Then after you have cut a decent groove... take the punch and hammer, and place it into the cut and hit it sideways to make it spread open a little...

Heat always helps./

good luck let us know how it turns out

ya no sh*t.
im replacing the fan clutch.
2 studs threaded out and i couldnt get them off the factory clutch because of clearance issues.

so i stuck it in a vice and hammered at it to bend the clutch so i could remove the bolts.
broke the vice base.
eventually put it in the vise and used the vice to try against it.
bent the vice handle badly.
finally got it off.
sometimes a mechanics best tool is his vocabulary.

good luck.

The best tool for mechanic is patients.

Try air chizel if you have air tools, or rent big bearing puller. Make sure it comes off evenly. If you have got it off a little bit spray oil all over then beat it back on then try to beat it off again.

I said beat it off!:)

how far is the bearing from the end of the spindle?

maybe a pitman arm puller?
a really big one?
id try a pulley puller of some sort.

FWIW- I fried an axle bearing on my 65 Gladiator. My driver's side rear axle bearing caught fire on a cross country trip and left me stranded on the Oklahoma Turnpike. Upon getting the rig towed to a Napa, I tried to do a parking lot repair and found that my race was frozen to the axle. It took heat, a grinder, chisel and a hammer to remove the race. In the process of doing that repair, I damaged the axle. I didn't realize that I damaged it until about two years later when I noticed my 35" BFG MT go rolling by me while driving 55MPH down Riggs Rd.

The heat of the torch, messed with the axle, making the metal brittle. My axle broke off right at that spot where the heat was applied to it. Just something to think about when using heat on axles......

I got it off with a dremel. Everything is back together now. I hope I didnt damage it with the heat. I didnt heat it up anywhere near what I would think it would take to damage the integrity of the metal. Didnt do it for too long each time. Only enough to boil grease off the parts. I sure hope it is ok.

Thanks for the tips Adam, it really helped. I wound up buying a Dremel and some cutoff bits, then used your punch technique to finish it off. Really easy with the Dremel.
