WHY is the 3.8 a Downfall??? Because it gets 17.8 MPG with 37's and 5.13 gears??? Or the High pinion Dana 44's with 32 spline shafts in them and 3" tubes? Or the bigger disc brakes? I could go on and on. The ONLY people that dont like the 3.8 are the people that dont OWN one. I may get flamed for this, but I am ready for it......the JK is everyhting the TJ was, but better and more refined. And not only am I a JK owner, but a TJ owner too. Dont get me wrong, there are a few design issues with the JK's that like the TJ's will be worked out in time (like trac-bar brackets, both front AND rear) but overall, its just as godd a vehicle, if not better in most ways than the TJ was.

I have a JK 4 door at work that we have taken to Moad and the Rubicon trail and it ran great. The New motor runs great. We have around 14,000 miles on our JK and it doing great. It is our indoor Sema vehicle this year. I friends the love there JK. Joe at Absolute off road has a 2 door and he love's it.

The new JK is very impressive offroad, Far more than even I thought originally. Sometime's we need to witness the new technolgy working to be satisfied on the improvements. A stock JK will walk all over a stock tj and even compare to a TJ with a limited slip,3" lift and 33" tires. My next Jeep is a JK 4 1/2drs 4" lift and 40's:eek: Of coarse I need a hemi to power the 40's and would make a descent tow rig!

I personally just don't like the look of em ...
And if you ask me I think the four door is basically an suv...
The only way I like em is if you cut off the fenders , bumpers and lift em...
just my opinion , Don't get all offended...i'll still wheel with ya...

I cant comment on the TJ as i never owned one, but the JK has been a great vehicle. The extra size of the 4dr is what allowed me to justify the purchase. Rubicon +3.5 RE lift + 35s = instant go anywhere. Havent done the gears yet but will do 80 easy, just not the 17.8 mpg on stock gears.

The JK really isn't my thing...some people get their panties in a bunch when people say that but to me, too much technology takes a little bit of the fun away. I like taking a crappy base model TJ and building it into a locked, loaded, ready to go monster. Even the TJ was a little refined for my tastes. It was my first vehicle with tilt wheel, CD and AC. I was impressed and cant imagine ESP, DVD, NAV, ETC...

Take the TJ out of it, I like CJ's better too. Little to no emission restrictions when doing engine swaps, junkyard parts are cheap and easy to retrofit, simple easy to get rained in interior, smaller(CJ-5's), give you a sense of accomplishment to complete even an easier trail because your old, narrow, carburated mess made it.

To me I think it is funny, people always talk about how TJ's are so much better than CJ's but I wind up having more fun in the CJ and I think that's what it is all about.

Maybe I am just not extreme enough to fully appreciate the JK's apperent jump in capability over previous models.

Dont get upset, I'll still wheel with all you JK'ers. I will just like my stinky, broken, wheezing CJ more and the TJ will always be my favorite model Jeep.

I think they are very capable, just as Joe stated....Ive seen CarolinaRubme's JK wheel...and while he isnt hardcore, its pretty impressive. I hate the way they look stock...but lifted on something in the 35 and up, they look good...and DO have some better stock equiptment than a TJ.....

Its the age old...I gotta CJ, Ill never own that new fangled YJ with all its gurly refinement, then I gotta YJ, Ill never getta gurly TJ and all its refinement...and on an on....

I do have one thing to say about them...I think its sickening that DC made it 2wd...I dont care who its aimed at, or what DC's pocketbook was thinking...its just WRONG.

I am not a fan of the way the X models look without bigger/better tires. Even the upgraded tire option for the X is weak.

The reason the X also looks a little weird, Chrysler made the fender flares wider so those doing mild lifts and tire upgrades wouldn't have to deal with the police bugging them about their tire coverage. I also am not a fan of the gray "flenders" on the front of the X and Rubicon models. I also am not a huge fan of the bumpers but they are acceptable.

But all those things can easily be changed... take a Rubicon, put at least some 33 x 12" wide tires on it, change the flenders to either the Sahara ones or get aftermarket ones from Bushwacker or Xenon, change the front bumper to a AEV winch bumper and the rear to the Mopar off-road bumper and you have one of the nicest vehicles being produced today.

I don't have a problem with the 4 Door. I have driven one extensively and must say it is a lot more practical purchasing decision for anyone with a family. Hence, the huge jump in sales.

A lot of the electronic changes such as ESC are soon to be Federally required items on all new Jeeps, SUVs, and trucks. As is the fuel tank location (which results in the exhaust system being moved).

The 3.8L does get some good gas mileage but needs a little more low end torque. The old 4.0L had ran it's day and was finding it harder to pass tougher and tougher emissions standards. A diesel engine option would make the already hot-selling Wrangler sell even quicker.

Are you building a JK or a TJ?? Alot of the parts that you have listed dont even exist for the JK....... And Rack and Pinion steering??? The JK is not a rack and pinion set up.... Post up some pics of your Jeep so we can check and make sure its a JK......:D

i gave mark sh*t the first time i heard he bought a jk.

fake jeep.

after him driving me around on part runs and all the other bullsh*t we can think of to do its really impressed me.

i dont like the v6.
i dont think it makes torque low enough like the I6.
with the manual and the really low 1st gear mark will drop the clutch and my eyes suck into my skull.
i cant wait to see it on the trail saturday.
the suspension rides really nicely. stiff but comfortable.
the pickup is good.
the 22mph is great.
the clearance is great.
the 32'' tires are amazing(but bridgestones).

i hate the stock look.
the angles just dont work.
especially not the 90* angle in the hard top.
thing dosent whistle at all but i dont like the look.
but when all the stock stuff comes off they look great.
really aggressive
the smittybuilt bumpers i cant wait to see.
the xenon flairs look great.
the vehicle w/o a top on looks nasty and mean but at the same time measured.

the one thing i truly cant stand is the interior.
its nice.
really nice.
and thats the problem.
i, personally, want something bare.
stripped.
loud.
i want something i can throw dead ducks in the back of and wet waders and not worry about my carpet or seats.
the dash and all is nice but i like the YJ.
no glam no air bag no nothing.
tj i can handle but id rather the YJ.
stereo sounds great though.

all in all the vehicle is very nice.
my only dislikes are cosmetic and can be overcome with the proper finances(cant anything?:D).

cant wait to see it all built out.
just hope you wont be afraid to get her all muddy.

I understand that all that i have listed is not readily available but i figured after 6 months have passed it all will be. some manufacteurs slack off but it will all be there i got no worry's and im its not exactly a rack and pinion steering but the setup up slighty varies from it. its a recirculating balls steering which is better than what any of the other jeeps had.
