Hello all,
I am pretty new to Jeep ownership and have been reading on the site for awhile now. Looks like alot of good folks out there, I would like to install a kill switch in my 98 TJ to hopefully prevent theft or at least slow them down. My question is what is the best way to wire it in and where? I have looked at an older thread on this topic but it did not give any specifics. Any help would be appreciated on this subject. Hope to meet you all soon.
Dave

Hey Dave, welcome to the club. I like many others have a kill switch. I am thinking that maybe there should be a workshop for installing a kill switch. I am not one who likes to advertise where I installed mine. But in the past we have gotten together to do a workshop. Anybody out there interested in maybe putting one together?

I would like to do this! I signed up for a workshop on the old website for a kill switch but it got pushed back... By a year! I think it was dropped... Anyway, lets do this!

yeah i think last time this topic was posted everyone got mad because people were giving away secrets.. it was deleted thats why you couldn't find it

This is why a workshop makes sense as opposed to just publishing on the boards where we put our kill switches at. You never know what idiots are gaining access to the boards just to try to screw with someone.

Check with Wayco on this. He put on a workshop that I attended in the past to install a kill switch. I use it regularly and it works just great. I still have my jeep. :D

Interested in learning a little about them to possibly do one on my truck eventually. My Cherokee has the SentryKey system which would hopefully slow anyone down. The Commander has the SentryKey, full alarm system and other security goodies.

It is definitely a plus, especially for those who have no alarm system at all.

You can go by way of the clutch interlock, or the fuel pump. Thats all Im going to say since I dont know you yet...:D

According to the last Kill Switch thread...the information is out there even a 13 year old can get...Im not gonna add to it.

Mine is a 3 way system. 3 switches that have to be thrown in sequence or it won't start and the horn blows till the battery is disconnected but that also resets the system. You would have to be VERY familiar with the wiring in a jeep to find what doesn't belong and reverse it.

I don't share this setup with anyone :D

sounds like a james bond setup. "first you have to turn the heater on...then switch the fan to the #2 speed, turn on the left blinker and honk the horn" then vroom vroom.

My switch disables the C4 under the seat.... BOOM!!!!!!! They'd deserve it! Of course a directional charge to minimize damage to my own rig... J/K

I agree with this. One concern though, I want to watchin' 'em go up. Maybe a pager system that tells me that some P.O.S. is in my Jeep and to grab the camera....

I was planning another workshop in a month or so, as soon as it cools down a little more. Anyone who can't wait should PM me, we will work something out.

Wayne keep us informed on when and where. I'd like to get in on this one seeing how I walked out of Red Robin and saw a guy checking out my Jeep until I got close enough and then he took off. I was with the kids or I would've probably chased after them.

When Joe did it, it was a hood lock & kill switch workshop. We'd send in the money and he'd have things ready for the workshop. Maybe you could advise us on what items to purchase to bring to the workshop. I never did mine because of work, I donated the parts I purchased to another member who needed it. So I'm still interested in a workshop.

I guess after hearing about two peoples cars stolen on here this week, I might be interested in doing this on my Cherokee too.

I want to be a part of one ASAP. I will be asking my local shop (Custom Motor Sports) if they can do one this week since I just my baby back yesterday from a theft.
Total bill from Corona Auto Body= $7,485.65. Of course it just cost me $500, but I would've paid infinately more to catch the Bastage!!!

I swear I smell something in it now. The loser who is too lazy to get a job or shower, but has enough energy to steal my Jeep:mad:
