PVC GEOCACHE

Alright figured why not hide some more for ya!! So I went ahead and fab up some small canisters out of steel lastnight and went out 4wheeling/hiking today, found a awesome spot. I know before we started to do this I brought this up to everyones attention that would should rate the trail and the geocache so we dont get people breaking legs and arms. So the way this works is one through five, one being easy 2wd if that while 5 means extreme lift and big tires required. Same thing with the geocache one meaning very easy no hiking involved, as five meaning expert hikers only. I will explain more down the road about this. The reason I named this geocache PVC cause there was a peice of white PVC sticking out of the top of the mountian when I got to the top, as seen in the pictures below. Heres the info along with the trail rating..

PVC GEOCACHE

1* to 5* TRAIL

1*- 2wd drive will make it with no problem.

1* to 5* GEOCACHE

5*- very steep climbing, experinced hiker only.

More about the trail/geocache ratings.

All I can say, being new to this geocaching thing and mainly using my Garmin E Trex Vista C as a guide on backroads and the like I learned many lessons today. Here is a shot of the actual find. The book is signed and I left a little something in there and took the tire repair kit. I am putting the rest of the pictures (there are alot) in the pictures forum in a new thread with the story of this mighty expedition. Hats off to Dustin for being insane enough to hike that damn mountain and give us a real challenge.

P.S. When looking at Dustin's initial post make sure to figure out which coordinates are to be used. This will save you alot of "where the heck am I" conversations with yourself. This is probably common sense, but to the new GPS'ers or people like myself who are just in too big of a hurry, it will help.

Moriarty - Nice find brother!!!!

Papa Mo - Who is the gal in the picture with the striped shirt?! :D

06TJWrangler - I am still planning on putting a GEOCACHE out for you! Now that it is getting cooler, look for it before the end of Oct. I will send you the coordinates a few days early for a headstart sinc eyou dump so many for other people but it will be fair game for all after that. Unfortunately it will most likely be in the FJ area...

RIGHT ON DOUG!!! About time someone found it huh!! :D Yeah about the coordinates, they all work! Some people on here have older GPS which only can be set in a certian coordinate since mine is able to do it in anyone, I went ahead and add all the coordinates for this geoacache so any new or old gps will work. Basically there is 3 of them most common, pick which one your GPS perfers and go from there! Did you like the hike Doug?? Enough of a challenege?

The hike to the where the Geocache wasn't actually was the real challenge of the day. I was doing cliffhangers looking on the wrong mountain. Glad I didn't fall, how retarded I would feel if I posted I was in the hospital after falling off the wrong mountain:D The PVC climb was pretty good to up the face.

Definition of irony. I took the tire repair kit from your geocache. Got home from work today and the CJ was tilted because the front left was dead flat. Got a huge thorn inbetween the lugs. Pretty close to the sidewall, gonna see what my tire tech says in the morning.:(

No broken arm. Good job.

The PVC Cache is a great climb. But if you were to fall it wouldn't be broken arm. It would be broken, period. :D

Hope that arms healed up for you though Mark. I still need to visit the Hyline Cache.

It was holstered with the safety on. Mexican carry (no holster) can be very dangerous to the conjones:D Especially if you carry a Glock. This is the best possible position for me to draw from in case snake shot becomes immediately
necessary, and I have proven it. Just check out the picture of the rattler in the Picture Forums. Took a second to draw down on him and then backed away reeeeeeel slow. Some gun owners don't believe in tactical classes. I am a firm believer!

having entered the coords for the PVC Geocache on GeoCaching.com to get some idea where to begin topo-wise, I was somewhat amused to find that there's another one.... within 0.2 miles. Now I'm sure that sounds "close", but given the terrain, 0.2 miles is probably an eternity away... especially if you slip and fall. Still, it sounds like a challenge... to hit BOTH geocaches while up there. :) one of these days... T.

p.s. you'd be surprised to see just how many geocaches there are in that area. I was, but should have known.

as I got done with the first three caches... I looked to the NE and saw the higher peaks... and all I could hear in my head was "triple dog dare! triple dog dare! " bleh! too bad the other cache wasn't there... it would have been four for the day. :laugh2:

NICE! That was a good little climb, and yeah, pliers are totally necessary!
I spent 20 minutes picking a couple chollas out of my converse. They went
right through. Good job on all the caches, I still need to make it to Wayco's.

unfortunatly for the sponsor of the geocache on the other peak, a couple of dnf's (did not finds) means they have to hike up and see if the cache is still there or not... whether obscured somehow, or outright stolen.

wow, my fingertip was sore the next day... but it didn't last forever. that was indeed an excellent climb to the pvc cache... I went straight up for the rock climb... and never looked down til I reached the top... excellent view! :smug:
