Subject: CD Changer

Does anyone out there have a Mopar 6 disc changer? If so, could you
give me the dimesions (HxWxL) of the unit? I just got a CD changer
console that fits in the back right side panel of the XJ. It fits
between the wheel well and the lift gate and holds the changer and
has a storage area below it. The problem is that I have a 10 disc
changer and it doesn't fit into the new console.

If the dimensions of the 6 disc changer are right, would anyone be
intereseted in trading for a 10 disc?

TIA for the help,

Ben

I'd say it's probablly the master.
Either the diafram or the seals inside are bad and fluid is passing by them.
Not allowing the pressure to stay aginst the throwout bering.
Therefore gradgually releasing the pressure on the clutch..

There also may be a proble with the internal seal folding over inside the
master. Mine does this everyonce in a while. the seal or O ring allows fluid
past it and this reduces the holding pressure.

Hope this helps

Mine was broken into last wednesday and thought they took my
dirt filled sony cd player and my B&M shifter knob all they did was pop the
lock on my vent window.. 37.50 for a new lock at Earnhearts.
I have a kill switch wired to the ignition so it can't be stolen.
I'd suggest just leaving the doors unlocked and not leave anything worth
stealing in the Vehicle.. They didn't take over 1500 dollars worth of tools
that I had left in the vehicle so I consider my self lucky.. They can have
the Cd eating sony and that damn shifter knob for all I care. as long as I
still have my XJ and my tools I can deal with it... :)

Take care

I couldn't help but notice all the hurt feelings, misunderstandings and
apologies recently.
It will be a long, hot, dry summer, most of us will survive......

Whether you are new to the group, or a seasoned veteran, sooner or later you
will become offended, or offend someone else by what you type. (Kinda silly,
but true.)
The only remedy immediately apparent to me is to continue meeting with each
other as we have in the past with Night runs, wrenching parties, weekly
lunch meetings, etc.
You are less likely to unintentionally offend or be offended by people you
meet with regularly.

When people are on unfamiliar ground, or dealing with people they don't
know, misunderstandings will abound.

Good luck!

Tom,

I had the same problem. All you need to do is go to your setup page on yahoogroups and add the email address (even if it is already there) that you want your email to go to. It will send out a confirmation to that account, reply to it just as you would if you were adding a new email address and then everything should work fine.

It's all good.

And please re-read before you hit that send button. I can't tell you how
many times I hit the delete key in responding to messages because I know
someone will get butt hurt and end up selling their Jeep because of how
they interpret what I post.

Oil Change instructions for Women:

1) Pull up to Jiffy Lube when the mileage reaches
3000 miles since the
last oil change.
2) Drink a cup of coffee.
3) 15 minutes later, write a check and leave with a
properly
maintained
vehicle.

Money spent:
Oil Change $20.00
Coffee $1.00
Total $21.00.

Oil Change instructions for Men:

1) Go to auto parts store and write a check for
$40.00 for oil,
filter,
kitty litter, hand
cleaner and a scented tree
2) Discover that the used oil container is full.
Instead of taking it
back to O'Reilly to recycle, dump in hole in back
yard.
3) Open a beer and drink it.
4) Jack car up. Spend 30 minutes looking for jack
stands.
5) Find jack stands under kid's pedal car.
6) In frustration, open another beer and drink it.
7) Place drain pan under engine.
8) Look for 9/16 box end wrench.
9) Give up and use crescent wrench.
10) Unscrew drain plug.
11) Drop drain plug in pan of hot oil: get hot oil on
you in process.
12) Clean up mess.
13) Have another beer while watching oil drain
14) Look for oil filter wrench.
15) Give up; poke oil filter with screwdriver and
twist off.
16) Beer.
17) Buddy shows up; finish case of beer with him.
Finish oil change
tomorrow.
18) Next day, drag pan full of old oil out from
underneath car.
19) Throw kitty litter on oil spilled during step 18.
20) Beer. No, drank it all yesterday.
21) Walk to 7-11; buy beer.
22) Install new oil filter making sure to apply a
thin coat of oil to
gasket surface.
23) Dump first quart of fresh oil into engine.
24) Remember drain plug from step 11.
25) Hurry to find drain plug in drain pan.
26) Discover that the used oil is buried in a hole in
the back yard,
along
with drain plug.
27) Drink beer.
28) Uncover hole and sift for drain plug.
29) Discover that first quart of fresh oil is now on
the floor.
30) Drink beer.
31) Slip with wrench tightening drain plug and bang
knuckles on frame.
32) Bang head on floorboards in reaction to step 31.
33) Begin cussing fit and throw wrench.
34) Cuss for additional 10 minutes because wrench hit
Miss December
1992 in
the left boob.
35) Beer.
36) Dump in five fresh quarts of oil.
37) Lower car from jack stands and accidentally crush
one.
38) Move car back to apply more kitty litter to fresh
oil spilled
during
step 23.
39) Beer.
40) Test drive car.
41) Get pulled over: arrested for driving under the
influence.
42) Car gets impounded.
43) Make bail.
44) Get car from impound yard.

Money spent:
Parts $40.00
DUI $2500.00
Impound fee $75.00
Bail $1500.00
Beer $25.00
Total $4140.00 --- But you know the job was done
right.

Subject: Questions about my ZJ

My ZJ has a full time all-wheel drive transfer case (NP249) so I
wonder: when in "normal" mode does the engine power go 50-50
to both axles, or does it do some kind of 60-40, 70-30, split?

The stock tires on it were P225/70/15, since I know the "P"
on the tire stands for passenger, or maybe "Problems off
road", I bought a used set of LT235/75/15. The problem I'm
having with
these tires is that they rub against the lower control arms when I
turn the steering wheel all the way to either side.

As far as I can tell, my set of "off-road" wheels have the
exact same dimensions and offset as the factory "gold
honeycomb" wheels I have with street tires 15x7 with a 5.5
offset.
Any ideas or suggestions?

I have noticed that several members in the past week or so have been
complaining that they're not recieving e-mail from their Yahoo Groups.

Apparently there were some problems and alot of people's e-
mails "Bounced" back to Yahoo Groups. When this happens repeatedly,
Yahoo places the member on the "Bouncing" list and stops sending them
e-mail.

If they e-mail the group, this resets their status and they should
start recieving e-mails again. If this happens to you in the future,
just send an e-mail to the group. If that doesn't work, contact me.

If you know someone that has been complaining (off group) that their

I personally would prefer one that protects the fill plug. One time, I
evidently
dropped off a ledge or something like that and caught the fill plug on a rock.
I didn't really leak fluid (at least not when sitting level) but the diff cover
was
ruined because the fill hole was distorted and could not be pounded back.

My preference would be the rear first because I'm pretty good at keeping
track of what's coming up in front of my front diff (in fact I normally try to
avoid hitting my front diff on anything) whereas if I have to stop and back
up I usually have no clue what's right behind my rear diff. I've dented a
rear diff cover or two but never a front diff cover.

By the way, 4 Wheelers Supply sells diff covers that are made out of
some pretty thick metal - I'd say 1/8" - 3/16"ut don't remember for sure.
I got one for my rear Dana 44 and have not dented it yet - though I have
tried. ;-)

Seems like I paid $30 for the cover.

Michelle,

Every vehicle model is different. You'd need a wind tunnel to determine how
much, and what angle opening you need to counteract the vacuum effect of any
given opening.

That said, I can offer you anecdotal evidence. My Jeep runs with the top up
but all the windows off. So it has a similar physical configuration to your
Jeep. When I first constructed my exhaust stack for water fording, I
terminated it at tub level behind the c-pillar. By the time I drove 15
miles, both Max the Dog and I were passing out from the fumes. I stopped at
a Midas Muffler off the interstate and had the stack extended above the
roofline. Problem solved.

So my point is to look at where your exhaust terminates: location,
direction, angle, height. Then consider what mods to make to the exhaust.

Hope this helps.

Subject: (FS) Detroit Locker & ARB Locker

Group:

The Camo Cow is getting 4.56 R&P on Monday the 17th of June. It has
D44's front and rear of course with 3.54 R&P now with a Detroit Locker
in the rear and an ARB Locker in the front. Because I have to go to the
larger carrier I have to buy all new parts. Because of this the Detroit
and the ARB will be available with the 3.54 R&P. They have few miles on
them and were professionally installed (and removed) by KONGS 4X4 here
in Phoenix. You know what they cost new so I will let them go
(singularly or together) to the best offer. You can e-mail me off-line
or on as the spirit moves you. I would like to see approx. $475 for the
Detroit and $575 for the ARB which will have everything needed to hook
it up including the solenoid. This includes the R&P of course.
