I am wanting to remove the back fender flares, but the holes left behind look kinda .... ugly. I want to put something there to cover the holes. Picture this in your mind, the flat part of the flare that mounts to the body is about an inch or so thick. I have thought about trying to trim off the "flare" part, but think it will look "choppy". Anybody ever seen something out there that is already made that looks something like what I am looking for?

Why dont you just weld up the holes?

Get a penny, use super glue or something mild and glue the penny behind the hole.

Get a clothes hanger hold it in the center and weld it in to fill the hole.

grind smooth and get some touch up paint and your set.

I did this on older chevelles and el comino's works great.

Wow, ademster... You gots skills...

Brnzy, are you removing all your flares? Why? Will the corner guards that everyone is getting cover the holes?

If you get rid of your rear TJ flares, let me know. I need a set for my build.

Or just cut it all off and tube it off. :D

X2 on what Adam said. You can make nice patches for sheet metal using several techniques. Finishing is the only hard part getting paint to match.

I have the PS front fenders already. I think that I will just weld up the holes like previously suggested and touch up the paint ... thnks! (PM sent to RICK1975).

the reason to use a penny is... the weld wont stick to it... and it helps make the welds!!!!

absorbs the heat and keeps the weld where you need it!!!!

Most auto body supply stores (Space Age Paint, Young Sales, etc) have body plugs large and small... Basically just a plastic rivet and they are paintable and removable, so down the road you could replace the flares if you wanted too....

Just my $.02....

I was thinking about what to do for mine because I want to do the same thing. I was going to get some thin sheet metal and trace the outline of the flare, paint it black, and mount it using bolts. But I haven't completely thought through the idea and it sounds like a lot of work, so it has not happened yet.
