I was given CO2 bottle, but I think it needs to be tested before they will fill it. Does anyone recomend somewhere to get it done? How much will I be looking to spend?

Thanks
Kyle

I couldn't tell you. I just got a CO2 set up from the welding store. Of course I am an idiot and got a cylinder that is two sizes too big. So, if we wheel I can fill up everyones tires in about 5 minutes.! The welding place in mesa where I got mine may be able to do it. I think it was Phx Welding? I can find out for you or you can call a couple of the welding shops....

Kyle, Thunderbird Cylinder over on University and we'll call it 40th street is the only place I know of on the East Valley that will test and certify tanks.

Make sure it doesn't same Pepsi or I believe it's CCA (I think that's what Coke has on theirs) on the side of it.... if it does they won't fill it. Don't ask me how I know.

Thunderbird tested my Pepsi bottle and filled it. US Air also filled the Pepsi bottle last week.

That's great to know... I have a 20# Pepsi and a 20# Coke bottle in the garage... after getting shut down from Phx Welding I figured everyone would shut me down.

I am guessing the Pepsi bottles don't get filled to the same pressure as a welding type tank?

The ones we used in the bar business only ran at about 90 PSI or so.

These were the can we filled with syrup and charged with CO2.

Are the Pepsi bottles you are taking about something else?

The Pepsi bottle is not the syrup bottle, it is the Pepsi CO2 bottle. Mine is actually a Catalina Cylinder (20#) by brand and has a blue handle instead of the normal black. Pepsi Co is stamped on the side next to the old testing date. I bought is from a restaurant on Craig's List. My 10# bottle, that I bought new, is the same brand.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I figured that was the case but had to ask.

Mike from my dealings with Thunderbird they could really care less what they are testing or filling as long as it's safe. They do most of the testing in Arizona and the Southwest.

Is there a location on the east side of town (Gilbert)?

Thanks for the replys. I asked some friends, and come to find out this guy I work with has a roomate that works at welding place. He did it for one of my friends for $15 with gas and took like one day. I called Phoenix weld supply and thay said it is like 3 week turn around time and thay charge $15+Gas.

Liquid CO2 at ambient temps is abut 800 psi, level of fill won't make too much difference. Don't let them over fill because without room for expansion, they can over pressure and burst a relief.

CO2 at 90 psi would be very low pressure gas.

Nope, just the one in Phoenix off University. They do most of the testing for the city. Places ship them the tanks they need certified and they do the testing in house. The Co2 is just a benefit for us because when they moved into that building some years ago the tank was already in place. They are always surprised how many of us come in there just for that. :D
