I noticed my inner tie-rod has gone bad...

I would like to know what the best rout is for either making or buying heavy duty steering components.

Go with Currie? or???

or should I get some good tubing and make my own with hiems etc?

I'd go with Currie. My currie is still sitting on the floor waiting to be installed, but every report I've seen on them has been great. Also PM Brad AZG23. He's got a heavier set off a Grand Cherokee that's good also and may be a cheaper way than the Currie.

4 wheelers sells the Currie at a great price.

I wish I had saved up for the high steer instead though.

I installed my d/30 tonight with high steer. cant wait to try it out. I need to to go to 4 wheelers and get what I need to connect it to the pitman arm with the heim joints.

Adam,

I did the Currie setup on mine with stock spec tierods... I wouldn't say it has been abused, but the first time out after I installed it, I practically had the entire front end weight of the vehicle on the tierod tube and it didn't budge, NO BS....

My thinking as far as heims go is you can get a tierod end (Currie uses LH and RH standard CJ outer tierod ends for the all four positions) about anywhere (Phoenix Metro, Flagstaff, Prescott, Moab, CA, just about any parts store has them), a heim setup requires you to be responsible for your own spares.

If your current tierods are in decent shape then you start out with one spare each LH and RH if you buy four new ones to start off with... (I'm sure you can get a better deal on the tierod ends than I did)...

I priced out tubing to see if I could save a few bucks, but by the time you get tubing and purchase the RH and LH taps your money ahead just going with Currie before you even figure in your time...

I don't believe Big Daddy has a CJ setup, but I didn't check that hard... (Check that, clicked on Allen's link and they do have CJ stuff AMAZING!!!).....

JMHO...

I'm running the Rock Krawler gen 1 steering and it's strong as hell. The 2nd gen is quite a bit different. I've also ran the Currie in the past and I bent it. It was very strong and I would say that 90% of people could run it with no problems.
