I forgot where the Circle K was... the common meeting place for FR42
runs. I'm comming up 101 to scottsdale road north all the way up. I
know you hang a left somewhere and then its down on the right, but I
forgot the name of the road! Thanks! -Rob

Subject: Brake help needed

We are almost done with the CJ7 and need to fix the brakes, any help here
will be gladly appreciated!

Specs on the vehicle are:

Jeep CJ7 79 - Disc/drums stock setup
Front D60 - Stock disc setup
Rear D60 - Disc conversion, D44 calipers and D44 rotors

Stock brake lines except the ones on the rear axle wich have flexible hoses
on the ends (attached to the calipers). The pedal feels soft, you have to
push a few times fast or it wont stop.

I was told that we need a master cylinder that has disc/disc setup, any clue
on what year or model I should look for?

Thanks in advance!!

The oil is tested by the company that picks it up. Supposedly they can tell if it is contaminated with gear oil or anti-freeze. This then makes the oil un-recycleable and the company is charged big bucks for the disposal.

Why did you tell them is was diff oil? as long as it is oil and not anti-freeze they should accept it. Oil is oil ain't it!?
Not sure if you can give 'em brake fluid though.

I just got home from a great day at the lake. I still like Jeeping better

Dear Mr. Towle:

Thank you for your recent message. We appreciate your contacting the Office
of the Attorney General.

Your e-mail has been forwarded to the Consumer Protection Division (CPD) for
review. CPD monitors trends in business practices, determines priorities
for enforcement, and makes legislative recommendations. When appropriate,
CPD takes action to stop violations of Texas consumer protection laws. We
appreciate your assistance in this effort.

Consumer complaints sometimes form the basis for an investigation or other
action against a company by this office. Ultimately, the decision to take
action is dependent on a number of factors, including the availability of
resources, priorities of this office, the number of consumers affected, the
consistency and extent of harm, and the practicality of legal action.
However, any legal action that this office may take against a company would
be on behalf of the State of Texas, not an individual.

Again, thank you for writing. Please feel free to contact the Office of the
Attorney General if we may be of further assistance.

Sincerely,

Carlos Ibanez

ROFL!!!

I would have expected as much from our esteemed Janet Napolitano and
her useless bag of cronies. I hope we all remember this at election
time when she vies for the office of Governor.

Wouldn't it be lovely if everything she touched was this useless to
the citizenry of Arizona. Oh, wait.....it already is.

Hail Texas! They seem to breed leadership quite well!

I would send a copy of the Texas' AG letter to our AG office and ask why our
office gives the run around and TX doesn't. I guess that's why they say
"don't mess with Texas". 8>)

While this is a very old e-mail hoax, no deserves to be called an idiot. We
just need to educate you and a a million other internet users ;)

Next time you get one of these types of e-mails check here:

I wish I would have found AZ's AGs letter funny. I was quite pissed
to say the least.
You are so correct about remembering this during the elections. I
wish both of these responses were posted someplace where all AZ could
read them. Our tax dollars hard at work. She and her staff were
worthless when they were with the feds and are just as useless for
this state. I am still wondering why they busted they people selling
the herbal pills, like she cares anyway.
I am having a hard time keeping this in the <G>/<PG> rating so I will
stop there.

Uh, yeah, oil is oil. And dog crap is, indeed, dog crap. Gear
oil, however, is not motor oil, which is what places like Checker,
Auto Zone, and others, will sell (actually, PAY, to have disposed of
properly, and often recycled...) to provide a service to do-it-
yourselfers who otherwise would have no place to lawfully dispense
their used petroleum products. Contaminating the vats of used motor
oil with gear oil, ATF, antifreeze, brake fluid, and Aunt Rosie's
three day old menudo is NOT something that will get you a pat on the
back from the management of these auto parts stores.
Yeah, he should have just told them that it was from an oil
change... (not impressed). I could be way off here. Take it with a
grain of salt, or, if you prefer, I'll tell you it's just sugar.

Subject: Re: Your experience with lower transfercase gears on TJs. (AtlasII and Tera 4to1)

Just so that you are aware...some of the Tera 4:1s can be very very
loud in 2/4 HI. They are already a bit noisier in LO, but some of
them are being very loud. Mine is pretty loud, I especially notice
when I put the doors on. One of the mechanics down at the shop had
one in his and it was horrible, you could here him coming just by the
sound the Teralow made. It is simply the sound of the gears meshing
together.

It was definately that because when he took it out....the factory t-
case was dead silent in comparison. And mine was before I put my
Teralow in.

For me, I can handle it....for people who may be a *tad* pickier
about the way the jeep sounds, it may be a bit too obnoxious.

In fact my gf says she does not want it in her jeep if that's the
noise it will make.

Tera has told me that they have yet to find out why (or at least
won't tell), but that it's just a circumstancial thing...some of them
make alot of noise, some do not.

Needless to say I should be doing the "Atlas Dance" sometime by the
end of this year if all goes well. I simply want to get more gear
4.3 vs 4.1, twinsticks, and most importantly gear driven...and get
rid of the chain.

My 1.5 cents.

Woohoo! After being on backorder for 10 weeks it finally showed up today.

I have some pictures at:

http://www.ofoto.com/I.jsp?m=55650254403&n=1641426576

As you can see in the photos I can't quite get into the garage with the top folded back. It goes in fine with the top latched down. Once I put the spare tire and stuff back on I think it should fit in the garage with the top folded back.

Now all I need to do is fab up a new 2 tier rack that will hold the 37" MTR spare and my Olympic Mountaineer basket.

Thanks to Joey K and Chris B for helping out. (Special thanks to Joey for buying the beer :D )

So....in following the popular kid's geography game, I guess the page would be:

"Where in the World is Rick Beer?"

Unlike the game, we should skip the clues and such and just post his phone number/store location.

David....you have (had?) a good idea!

We need a "Where's Rick Now" page on the AZVJC website. I think it would also cut down on the e-mails about where's Rick and what is his phone #.

Hi,

I'm working on something again and I was wondering if anybody has their factory rear bar that they want to get rid of. I'd be happy to explain what I need it for if somebody has one. (The rest you will just have to wonder for now. ;)

Never had any problem with Checker accepting used oil of any type. Just
can't have things like brake fluid or anti-freeze in it.

Just ran across this web site. It appears to be like an Army Surplus store. One item that caught my eye was they have the "Swiss Metal Fuel Cans" for $12.97 ea. and nozzles for $7.97 ea. I remember a thread a few weeks ago about fuel cans, and how expensive they were. I have no idea about the quality or customer service of this store, but thought I'd pass it on for anyone who wants it:
www.cheaperthandirt.com
They also have tool bags, camping equipment, ammo boxes and ammo, knives, gun stuff, and a lot of nifty little bags etc.

Actually, that's not entirely true. If you call and ask, assuming the guy
on the other end of the phone knows what he's talking about, they should
accept motor oil, transmission fluid, kerosene, gear oil, Coleman fuel, and
diesel fuel. The recycling company re-refines the oil for different
purposes, such as for use as an asphalt extender. The big thing is to make
sure those oils aren't contaminated with gasoline, anti-freeze, solvents
(parts cleaner, paint thinner), etc. Going by what you say, all motor oil
isn't the same, either. They'd have to collect conventional and synthetic
oil in different tanks, etc. ;) It's not exactly cut-and-dried "motor oil
ONLY" when it comes to recycling and re-refining.
