currently im not running a cat (i know its illegal):p. Some say that is stupid and you lose power, so i thought i would test this theory... since i had to do emissions test today i would put on the old (aftermarket) muffler and stock cat. this was the least amount of flow, and it did not have so much power. most of the time i run just the cherry bomb muffler, and when i got back, i took the other set up off, and tried it out. i thought it would have more power because of more flow. i was right:cool:. i seemed to have quite a bit more torque and horsepower. then i took the muffler and cat totally off. straight pipe...:D there was a terrible loss of power and torque, and it was stupid loud:eek:. i was suprised, not that it was loud, but i figured that since i had more flow it would be better. nope. i guess this theory is halfway correct:)

in order for the engine to operate properly...

You have to have some Back pressure....

BUT you don't want toooooo much back pressure.

The standard back pressure is 3 psi or lower.

I would also be careful about announcing in the open forum that you are voiding your emmissions

In order for your Jeep to operate properly, some of the tires must be in contact with the ground...http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=13159&d=1187731466

The point is, if someone reports you, you could be in a fair bit of trouble for intentionally breaking the law, and this is a big law in this area due to pollution problems
