I would like to see what can be done to a jeep "mod wise" for under $1000
Again we are talking about a bone stock jeep here.........Used parts would be more bang for the buck of coarse;)
Budget boost
Discos
recovery points
tools/box
Upgrade tires
Lunch box locker "lockright" "ezlocker" quickloc" etc
rock sliders

I am new and have a CJ7. I have been buying used and trading guns for parts (orders from wife).
Hard doors and top........ $150 (lucky steal)
4" YJ lift springs.......Traded 9mm Ruger
Shackle Reverse.......$140 (harder to install than I thought, still not done)
Used 33x12.50 BFG MT's w/rims (in good shape).....$400
Custom Bumpers (front and rear)........Traded guns.
Body Lift 1" (dont need as springs are enough)....... $100
Warn M8000 (not complete).........Traded 12ga.
Nice leather seats from van.......$50 ebay.
Hi Lift used (generic)........$20
Bought in haste and dont need:
Stock Tire Swing ($80)
Front Bumper ($50)
YJ Shackles and leaf mounts ($40)
Thanks to this site I think I still need: Upgraded axles, Lockers, Sliders, and lots of offroad driving experience (I see pics on here and think I could never drive/attempt the rough areas of the runs).

okay heres everything I could think of ...
Currie steering
Warn winch & mounting plate
Yukon Super Joints
alloy usa f & r cromo axles
re1600 track bar
extended rear swaybar links
no front swaybar (FREEBEE!)
daystar bodylift
daystar motormount lift
jeep medic engine skid
rockcrusher diff covers
steel wheels with rim stiffiners
xm satellite radio
my cd music collection ;)
front lower adjustable control arms from rock krawler
custom front bumper and tube fenders (for the extreme!) ;)
front JK turn signals
rear grote LED signals
rear oval backup lights
rock lights from walmart
bikini top
co2 tank and regulator with host and fittings and stuff
various tools
floor mats
I won’t include the gears since its almost a necessity for those to be installed professionally
And the lockers came with the jeep :)
maybe the thread should be mods under $5

Come ON, give a person some warning so they can put some sun glasses on! It was like looking directly at the sun.

Typical survival gear
Hi Lift Jack
Maybe some lights
Good Tow Strap

All the good trail stuff.

I've had my jeep for a little over 2 months and have managed to do quite a bit for cheap. Here's my list.
3.5" mostly RE lift, mostly used parts $450
front lock right locker used $125
barely used 32" tires $150
popped a tire, had to buy 2 new 32" tires $350
used rock sliders $FREE (thanks again Shawn!)
gearbox skid $60
oil pan skid $90
Walmart cb, radioshack antenna, new handmike after first one took a dump $100
recovery strap $25
Streamlight flashlight w/rechargeable batteries $150
spare Dana 35 shafts $70
Total so far $1570, not too bad for what I have!
I need: Dana44, gears, adjustable control arms, motor mount lift, 33" tires, winch, maybe bumpers and I think I'll be pretty happy with it for a while.
