We made it back, 1 day before the CAT 5 hurricane hit. I was kind of disappointed that I wasn't there to experience it :)
We had a great time. The country is beautiful, lots of wildlife and the people were very friendly. Great thing about Belize is everyone speaks english, the power outlets are the same as here and they drive on the same side of the road as us.
We stayed in Placencia, Belize at the Inn at Roberts Grove. The hotel was very nice, great staff, clean, and comfortable rooms. Only downside was that we were 5 miles from the village so the majority of our meals were ate at the resort which got expensive
Here are some of the pics that I liked

Wayco and I went to Belize in the late '90s and scuba dived off a live-aboard called the "Wave Dancer", and yes, it is a beautiful country with very nice folks. Right after 9/11, Hurricane Iris hit Belize and while up Big Creek which should have been safe, the Wave Dancer capsized and sank, killing 17 guests and crew, some of whom we knew :(

I rode two hurricanes out when I lived on a Sailboat back in the mid-70's. Trust me, you so do not want to be in a hurricane!

Weewere there in Oct of last year. We spent a week on a 45' catamaran with 2 other couples.
Our last night we stayed almost where you guys were in a place that was $75 / night right on the beach. You couldn't touch that in the US for less than $300 / night.
Personally I couldn't live in a place that had that type of heat and humidity.
Gotta love tree ripened bananas :D
Did you bring me back a bottle of one barrel rum :)

When we were sailing between islands we were trolling for fish. On 3 occasions we caught a fish and by the time we got it to the boat, the fish was gone. Either sharks or more likely Barracuda got it first. All we got aboard was the head :o
Here is a fish head we caught:

I tried this with Spongebob, but he likes to dive in COLD water! Sharon and I are more like Caribbean Resort divers. Cayman Brac is one of our favorites. :)

would be an easy trip down to the sea of cortez, waters warm too :)
I havent been there since 95 though when I did my scuba certification. Last time I was there it was great around 40ft visability and lots of things to see

If you guys want to put together a VJC dive trip count me in. I grew up diving off the coast of Socal so the cold water doesn't bother me. The Sea of Cortez sounds fun I've never been diving there.

Had to pull my logbook out but I logged on December 7, 1998 at Half Moon Caye (off Belize) that at 83 feet the temperature was 80 degrees (F) with 75' of visibility
