It's been a while since I last changed a speedometer gear, it was easy to find the speedometer cable then, and swap out the gear. I'm a new jeep owner, have upgraded to 33" tires, and 4.56 gears. Now my speedometer is off quite a bit. I think it would be fairly simple (I belive it's a 36 tooth) gear, and intall it, but I'm not sure which port to remove. I think it's on the tranny on the upper left side, I see an electrical wire bundle connected to something. I don't want to start removing stuff without being sure what it is. Can anyone explain the details for this process? I have a 2006 TJ, 6cyl, drive train as explained above. Thanks.

Stu did a write up on changing the speedo. Take a look at the link for details. To find out what speedo you need, do a search on Google and you'll find plenty of info. You can also call 4 Wheelers Supply. Its guaranteed they'll have it in stock.

should have gone to 35's....when I switched to 35's w/4.56 gears, my speedo went right back to factory sets.....

That'll do it, thanks John, appreciate it. OBTW, 4 Wheel Supply didn't have one when I called them, but I can get one on order now. Thanks again.
