I have a 97 Dodge 5.9l Cummins. Great truck but I need to change the Fuel Filter or filters (not sure if there is one or two). It is long overdue and needs to be done. If you are around 35 AVE & Northern let me know. I need help to get it done so maybe next time I can do it myself. I don't have the cashflow to take it to the shop right now. My number is 602 810 0757 Steve. I feel like an idiot and know I should be able to do this myself. I have tried reading info on how to but with no success. I figured if someone physically helped me that would solve the problem. Thanks for the help.

If someone comes and helps, do a tech write up. WOuld be good for us all with tow rigs to learn some of these things.

Steve, I'm on the opposite side of town and don't have time to run over there today. I've done the fuel filter on my CHEV k2500hd D/D a couple of times. Not hard but I don't know if your filter is in the same location. My filter is on the passenger side near the fire wall. I have to work both from the top of the engine and through the wheel well to change it. Do you have a Chiltons or Haynes? Call if you want- 602-478-3014

Ok well here is the problem. Apparently my truck has an aftermarket filtering system (prime-loc). After a bit of running around I manage to finally find a filter that cross referenced with the filter in place. NAPA was the winner of actually carrying the proper filter. So now it will need to wait until the truck cools off and it is cooler outside. Hopefully tomorrow morning it will be taken care of. Guess this is why the book wasn't matching up to what I was looking at.

This morning I went out and replaced the fuel filter and it was definately in need. It took all of about 10min. I will post a tech page up for anyone interested with the prime-loc fuel filter system later. The truck is running much better now. Before filter change it was idling at 500rpm or slightly lower with ac on full blast. With the replacement it is now at 600 to 700 with ac cranked.:D

Tech article wrote. I hope it is clear enough. I've never done an article like this before. Here is the link to where it is.
