I'm selling this 1985 K2500 4X4 LWB with a recently rebuilt 400 small block for a friend of the family. The motor was rebuilt about 20K ago with all new parts including World heads. The truck itself has 143K on it but is pretty nice for it's age. It has a CD player and alarm. If you're looking for a tow vehicle, then this is it. $10000

So how can $10000 end up being a typo? I have big fingers and all but..... Do you think it should have been $1000 instead?

Sorry, but $1,000 is probably closer to what it should sell for. Kelly Blue Book would only go back to 1988. Here is what came up from KBB.com.

So how can you make a judgement on how much this truck is worth when you haven't even looked at the truck in person? Are you interested in looking at it or are you just hunting for post counts and busting my nuts at the same time? I'll be more than happy to spend some time with you and go for a drive if you are really interested in it.

My wife has been after me to buy something she can haul hay in, so I guess you could say I was interested. Not busting your nuts, don't know you, and don't know if you even have nuts.
Where did this hostility come from? You weren't this way for these 2 posts.

I'm just floored that people look at the photo and assume that it's not worth $10K without even asking for more information about it. I had yet to respond to the other two responses so I figured I'd start on yours first. This truck isn't a farm truck and does not have beat up panels like most of them. It's worth more than $1000 without a doubt. Haven't you ever heard the saying, "If you do not have anything good to say-then don't say anything at all"? Do you really think that this truck is worth $1000? Of course if you had already been shopping for this style/model truck in good condition, then you would have known what the market is for these already. The heads on the motor are almost worth that by themselves.

Sorry bro, I was just asking because there isn't a 1985 truck alive that's worth 10k. Do a search in the trader here in Phoenix and you don't find an 81-89 2500 for any higher than 5k. This one seems very similar to yours and is still only running 3400.

And yes I was interested in the vehicle until I realized that you are serious about the price.

Funny, I was shopping and I did buy a 3500 in near mint condition inside and out, new tires, dually extended cab, 454, only 2wd but...it has a heavy receiver hitch and 5th wheel hitch, one owner and a lot lower miles. I paid $8K and it is a '97.
As for the heads being worth over a grand, they better have some serious work done on them. We used 400 GM's for our race motors and I am here to tell ya, I can buy aluminum racing heads for under a grand and they are worth a lot more than cast heads.
I don't think he was trying to insult your truck, just saying that a norml 85 is not woth $10G and they were trying to figure if it was a mistake. If there is a good reason for the price, post up what it is and people will be ok.

I said that the heads were worth almost that($1000) by themselves. If you built your racing motors then you would know that you HAVE to go thru any store-purchased heads because of the valve run-out is generally WAY out and the guide clearances are too. So now your $800 set of heads has now increased in value. I'm only selling this truck for a family friend and I have no control over the price that he has set for it. If you're interested in the truck then I can hook you two up and then you can talk to him on the price instead of me. I just thought I'd try to sell this really nice truck to somebody on here but instead everybody is beating me up for it instead.

Okay... I will jump in... I never have much good to say but oh well...
SUNSHINE... I hate to break it to ya, but I thought the 10K was a typo too! The truck does look clean and may be clean on the inside and out... BUT NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WILL PAY 10K FOR THAT!!! Consider a REALISTIC price, then repost and you might have some interested buyers!
Until then... I'm out :)

Looks like people really don't like that price!!!
Unfortunately, when working up a Kelly Blue Book price there is no option on the equipment list for pride of ownership (which sunnshine's friend obviously has). It's funny how that aspect can triple the value of a vehicle really quick.
But don't beat the guy up about it, IT AIN'T EVEN HIS TRUCK!!! His friend might think that thing is a Rolls Royce for all we know. And for some folks who might be really looking for one of these, they are hard to come by clean like that so maybe the guy thought he would go for broke.
Hell, get the guys number and see how flexible he is. I once bought a 57 Chevy Short Bed that the guy wanted $11,000 for $7,400 just because I showed up with cash and an appreciation for all his hard work! Sold it 2 years later for $14,500 to a guy who's son wanted a "classic truck". They had money and no respect whatsoever for the work put into that thing so I didn't move an inch on price.
Just my $.02
By the way. This one is pretty nice for the $$$
