A few of us ran the Montana Mountain trail yesterday and decided to go after a few geochaces while we were out. We found GCD6F7 and GCF214. We stopped and looked for GC1C8B but couldn't find it. For George, Diane and me it was our first time geocaching. I definitely enjoyed it and will be doing more. Montana Mountain trail is a nice mellow run for doing this.

Montana Mountain is an easy scenic trail east of Phoenix. It starts off near US60 just east of Florence Junction and runs up to near the top of Montana Mountain just above 5000 feet. You then drop back down to US60 just west of Superior.

How do you know find the coordinates to plot? Is there a list somewhere? I am new to geocaching... This sounds fun!

Hey Grunt, head over to geocaching.com. Once there, you can search by zip code to see caches in your area.

You should hide one on EAST side . When i get out on trail again i would enjoy searching for one in an area i havent been before. Post here if you do, so it can be a jeep thing.

I was thinking about hiding one. I'm just trying to decide where.

I'd also like to go run this trail again and look for the other ones out there. There was one we looked for and didn't find. There were also 4 others that we didn't look for. When it cools off a little maybe we can have an eastside scenic/geocaching run. I was planning on posting a scenic run up for this trail maybe in September.

CarolinaRubi:
there are a ton of caches out in the Florence area. In fact a quick search shows atleast 83 of them...:D

Good hunting!!!!
