I was thinking of doing some boating over the labor day weekend. I was wondering if anyone knew how crowded Apache or Roosevelt get over the big holiday weekends. Long lines at the launch? Beaches still available? Smooth water in the morning and evening for wakeboarding? If its a mad house, I'll just stay in town.

Thanks

Roosevelt gets busy...not crazy busy like Saguaro or LP but really FULL. If you dont have someone there around Thursday to reserve a spot to launch and camp you probably wont find one unless your lucky. We went up there for a few of the last holidays, I am sorry I do not know about Apache. Good luck and have fun, be safe. :)

I've camped at Apache several times. But I haven't been for about 5 years. The lake itself didn't get too crowded. But all of the drive in campsites do fill up on the holiday weekends. If you're looking to boat in camp you might have some luck with that. And there was never any line to launch.

We went to Roosevelt for Memorial day. We left Saturday morning and came back Sunday afternoon. The first place we went to was full so we had to go down a little farther and it was OK. Maybe we just got lucky timing. Found a cool cove to anchor down for the night and do some fishing. The water was pretty calm in the AM and in the evening.

Thanks for the Advice, sounds a little too crowded, may try Apache for a day trip though.

I was just at Apache last weekend, camping and boating.

We arrived Sat. morning, and it was not too busy. We were able to get a good camp site. Apache is alot more work to access than the other Salt R. lakes and it will be your best bet for finding a good spot.

If you have a boat, you can camp across the lake. There are ALOT of very nice camps away from the main camping areas, you'll just have to load up the boat but it is worth it.

The lake is very full too. My favorite desert lake in the state.

We live in the area, and I can assure you, major Holidays are not a good time to be up here and try to relax and enjoy yourself. The days after a Holiday are ideal. Most camp sights will probably be taken if you don't come up a day earlier. Don't forget to purchase a Tonto pass if you come. Good luck :)

It's sorta like road kill, but it looks way better. I guess we could call it a bass and smash, good deal for you.
